Well we're building up to the 3rd weekend in September again. Really looking forward to the big game.

What do you folks see the game turning out like? With the football Mayo and Dublin play I'm expecting a cracker? Out of the country do haven't heard anything about injury rumours on either side. How's Cillian O'Connor? Will be vital for Mayo as although they have a great impact bench I dunno if they're strong enough to carry a game from the start.

Can't bleedin' wait Boss! 2013 AI football final 3933776953  It's going to be a corker. I suspect it's going to go down to the wire again, and whatever the score it'll be close. Whoever wins, they'll ve worthy winners because it won't be an easy match. I hope it's not a draw mind!

The latest I know of on Cillian O'Connor is that he's been getting some intense physio and he's aiming to be back for the final. It's looking good they reckon.

UP THE DUBS!

Well if I'd known he needed a physio Whistle

I'm leaning to the Mayo side of the fence. There was a lot made of the midfield battle between Tyrone and Mayo and I can see it being even more important in the final.

Not sure if Mayo have the man markers to deal with Connolly, Brogan and Kilkenny. But I think the Dubs full back line can be exposed if O'Connor plays.

He came through an A’s v B’s game during the week unscathed apparently.

Dodgy shoulder isn’t ideal, considering it’s perfectly legal to hammer someone’s shoulder out of it.

Anyone find it strange, even refreshing, that Dublin are in an All Ireland and all of the hype is about the other team? I mean, if I’ve seen 1 “Mayo for Sam” song I’ve seen 25, every sporting event since February has had someone in a Mayo jersey in attendance and there was even a documentary about a “curse” on last week.

I know hype is relative, nobody sees it as hype when it’s their team, or the team they’re shouting for, and I assume we’ve got little or no neutral support.

Well, the story is, a couple of years ago I really started getting into GAA (watching it, not playing) and wanted to affiliate with a team over there. We have a GAA football team here in Cardiff (made up of Irish ex-pats), but obviously they won't play over there in the big leagues. About the same time, my sister was looking into our family tree and found a Dub on my Da's side...so there was an ideal opportunity to support the Dubs. It's nice having a team to follow with the hurling and football. Smile

I'm sure there'll be plenty of support for the Dubs from your Leinster brethren.

Eh... no. I doubt it. If we were playing Tyrone there might be a few, but certainly not against Mayo. It's very much 31 v 1 on Sunday I'd say. Nothing we're not used to.

Sarcasm doesn't come across too well on t'iinternet.

Mayo are the underdogs against the might of the Dubs. Only natural for the neutrals to support them especially with it being so long for them. I do have a mate that will be supporting yas though.

I'll tell ya one thing, if the game was decided on which team has the most naff all Ireland songs, we'd be beaten out the gate already.

I see the Mayo team is unchanged for the final, meaning CO'C is OK to play.  I just used that abbreviation so I could call him coc... Very Happy Little things amuse little minds...Wink

Just heard your song Mick. I'm a read and irish folk junkie but Christ that could have been written in the 50s. Any of the remaining Dubliners from Dublin?

John Sheehan is from Dublin. Marino I think. If you're talking about the one by the Merry Ploughboys that was done for the '11 final.

Apart from the dodgy singing, this is a pretty good effort:

Yahoo Well done lads!! So so proud of them. Bernie was crying which got me going. Sad  The pub I was in was full of Mayo fans. I felt quite intimidated at first, but then I found two Dub lads who looked after me. Very Happy Bernie was a hero and what a difference Bastick made when he came on. Chuffed to bits for Dublin. Commiseration to Mayo, but well done to their minors.
