tyson fury fans ?
Does the guy actually have a fan base ? I think the men arena will be 90 per cent haye fans , thoughts ?

Re: tyson fury fans ?
he doesn't really have a fan base which is why all his previous fights could barely sell out small arenas.rycoys wrote:Does the guy actually have a fan base ? I think the men arena will be 90 per cent haye fans , thoughts ?

He seems to have won over a lot of people. Maybe because hes in a vaguely significant fight now and his soundbites are going further. Or maybe its sympathy in advance of the exposing he is in for.

How David Haye remains popular is a mystery to me.

Boxing talent I would say , although he does nt fight often enough and all the celeb stuff he still has to be the most exciting boxer in britain ,catchweight wrote:How David Haye remains popular is a mystery to me.

David Haye exciting??? Mr PPV Stinker himself?? Theres lots more exciting British boxers out there. Granted they arent all on ppv but if Hayes opponent doesnt come to fight then there wont be a fight. Id watch Khan, Froch, Macklin etc any day (just not on ppv please).

it's boxing , not a fight ! The fact you mentioned khan as more exciting boxer than haye says you would rather watch someone take punishment than the art of boxing, although I do enjoy watching Malkin and froch ,catchweight wrote:David Haye exciting??? The fight sells this rather than the boxers on an individual basis. It's going to be a glitzy night of boxing in the MEN and the headline fight is between two of the best known British fighters. People lapped up the tickets for this fight because it is a big event.

Hmmmm. The fact you mention you enjoy watching Haye fight says you enjoy punishment yourself! Khans fight are exciting because hes an exciting aggressive boxer and his fights can go either and involve action galore. Seat of your pants stuff.rycoys wrote:it's boxing , not a fight ! Watching someone take punishment is the public humiliation of the hapless Harrison or the dragging of old man Ruiz through the knackers yard. Hayes style stinks and his fights usually stink. A PPV stinker extraordinaire! Unless his opponent forces the fight there will be no action at all. I could understand his popularity a few years back when he was a British heavyweight that was seen to have a real chance of being the undisputed heavyweight champion. I could understand people forgiving the stinkers while he was building up to his fight with Klitschko. But that surely should have been the end of it. Another massive stinker and never got close to being able to win. I dont get why people still fork out to watch his crummy fights when its pretty obvious he isnt going to be the next big thing in the heavyweight division, his style stinks and hes fighting punchbag excuses for heavyweights. PPV for that?? Madness!

Well you obviously just don't like David haye ,which is your opinion, but to say that he's style stinks ? Really! You think he's style was bad against chisora which was he's last fight , id say it was near perfect a boxing display your gonna see. Rather see that than khans display against pieterson! To be honest i wouldent put khan as the same level as haye, like i said yes the inactivity, the ppv was annoying but on pure boxing ability i rate him highly, i suppose when he kos fury you will be slating him for fighting an overhyped bum etc

Re: tyson fury fans ?
Ahh the old Haye as Mr Entertainment argument. Let's have a look at his fights since he entered the division properly. Barrett was OK but against a woefully overmatched opponent, Valuev stunk to high heaven, Ruiz was Ok but again against a woefully overmatched and past his best opponent. Wlad was an absolute toe curling embarrassment (pun intended) Harrison was absolutely shameful and Chisora was OK. Haye delivers entertainment in just 50% of his fights by my reckoning and usually when he opponent is poor. Got to say it hardly makes him the heavyweight Arturo Gatti does it.
As to the OP think you will be surprised by how much support Fury has in the arena. He has come across well in the build up on the whole and shown a real willing ness to engage with fans which has endeared him and the truth is plenty of people don't like Haye. he will pick up fans solely from fighting him.

Rooting for Haye. Furys cousin sold me some dodgy pegs. Thing is Rowley, at least Haye takes risks against overmatched oppo and doesn't hide behind is main defensive weapon (foot speed) like Wlad does behind his jab against every opponent.
Sadly I can't see this being a Chisora-esque tear up

Difference is Izzi, nobody is arguing Wlad is the saviour of boxing and the man to bring much needed excitement to the heavyweight division.

Re: tyson fury fans ?
I like both of them. Thought Fury was very funny at that press conference with his white shirt and shades on. Nobody who saw him in that get-up can think he's taking himself seriously at all outside of the ring. Trouble is, does he do inside of it?
I prefer Fury the talker to Fury the boxer. Still like him though.
Always liked Haye too, when he's not putting on an act to hype fights he's pretty articulate and likeable. I think he can box a bit too.
nb. I think I've just realised whilst typing this, in a nutshell, I like Fury when he's acting up and Haye when he isn't.

Re: tyson fury fans ?
Haye as a heavyweight in my opinion isn't the most entertaining fighter. He has great footwork and power yes but for me he seems to spend far too much time on the back foot and too little time going forward, the most ironic thing about this statement is that I'm a Whitaker fan!
He seems to move himself too far from the opponent to counter effectively which means his defence is generally built around running away.
Don't particularly like what I see of him outside the ring and Adam Booth is very difficult to like but he is a high level boxer and I can respect that.

Won't be 90% Haye fans now. This postponement has earned tyson a lot of new fans.

I dunno mate. They will turn up to watch him take on legends like Audley and Chisora so I doubt a little cut is gonna stop them paying their money againSeanusarrilius wrote:Won't be 90% Haye fans now. This postponement has earned tyson a lot of new fans.

Re: tyson fury fans ?
people will still turn out for Haye, but I think a lot of people, whether they go or not, have had it with Haye now. I think Tyson will be the lesser of two evils in many peoples eyes now. Won't impact the result though. Still fancy Haye early, but if it goes six, then anything could happenSteffan wrote:I dunno mate.
