Are You Tough Enough?
Hi all.
I have just been thinking...One day i would love to try and take a solid bump in a real wrestling ring, just to experience it (random comment).
I have been following this series of Tough Enough and i think it is brilliant! It really brings me to the reality what most people have gone through to get to where they are, although WWE does not base thier shows on in ring wrestling, it is still interesting and for me it makes it easier to hear it from people i am familiar with (Stone Cold, Booker etc).
That isn't all, there is of course emotions involved with wrestling and i'm sure most of us know about them and the politics within the business.
Anyway got some questions for you guys on this fine Friday.
Would you ever become a wrestler?
What sort of style would you have in ring?
Would you try and stay away from the politics?
Would you be able to be on the road near enough 24/7?
Do you think you could have what it takes? (Mentally and physically).
Supplemental question:
Can you rap or do you own a bowler hat?
Thanks for reading.

Re: Are You Tough Enough?
Would you ever become a wrestler?
I'd like to give it a go. But I'd need some serious fitness work and building up the muscles !!!
What sort of style would you have in ring?
I'd like to think I'd have a high flying style, but being very conscious of re-breaking my leg, I'd say I'd go for a Drew MacIntyre style (except with more wins )
Would you try and stay away from the politics?
Unless it directly involved me, I'd try and stay away as much as possible.
Would you be able to be on the road near enough 24/7?
Dependent on if I had a wife and kids. I think I'd be ok if I knew I'd be able to see them often, or bring them along with me.
Do you think you would have what it takes?
Physically - Not at the moment, but could do if I was to build myself up. Mentally - Yes, I probably could cope with the pain as I have a high pain threshold. I did spend 3-4 weeks walking on and playing football on a broken leg without knowing it was broken after all!

Re: Are You Tough Enough?
Would you ever become a wrestler? - I'd love to give it a go but it ain't gonna happen! My physique ain't exactly ripped at the moment!
What sort of style would you have in ring? - I think I'd be a Bret Hart technical style wrestler most likely, with a bit of high flying thrown in.
Would you try and stay away from the politics? - It would probably be difficult to but I'd like to think that I'd be more concerned with being someone who could be trusted and who's word is his bond, rather than climbing over everybody to further my own career. I say that now but.....
Would you be able to be on the road near enough 24/7? - Yeah I think so. Obviously it's easy enough sitting here and saying "Oh yeah I could be on the road no problem" but I'm not really one who totally misses the comforts of home or friends and family, I can be quite happy with my own company so I think that would stand me in good stead.
Do you think you would have what it takes? (Mentally and physically) - Physically I think I'd be alright, I seem to have a pretty high pain threshold and would probably be one of those guys who 'worked hurt'. Mentally, I'd like to think I'm pretty strong and I don't get too hung up on stuff which would probably be a big help if I were to become a wrestler.

Re: Are You Tough Enough?
Would you ever become a wrestler? - If this was a yes, then I would be one. So no.
What sort of style would I have in the ring? - Cowardly heel
Would you try and stay away from the politics? - No. I'd be there to make as much money as possible. So if getting involved in politics pushed me upwards in an organisation, maybe beyond where my talent merits, then I would have no qualms with doing so - as I would in any job.
Would I be able to go on the road 24/7 - No. I hate most people who aren't my wife, family or close friends, so to be so close, and constantly couped up with others would ruin my life.
Do I think I'd have what it takes both physically and mentally - Physically, absolutely no way. Mentally - possibly.

Would you ever become a wrestler?
I would love to do it, but I think that ship may have sailed for me now...
What sort of style would you have in ring?
I'd like to think I'd be a decent technical wrestler. My finisher would definitely be a submission hold.
Would you try and stay away from the politics?
Yes. But I doubt you can, because it seems like you have to dump on others to avoid being dumped on.
Would you be able to be on the road near enough 24/7?
Yes, travelling has recently been appealing to me more and more and you'd always be travelling with others too.
Do you think you could have what it takes? (Mentally and physically).
Physically....no. I'd need to get into a wrestling shape, and I'm getting increasingly doughy. Mentally, maybe. The general politicking and locker room atmosphere might catch up with me though.
P.S. In regard to the supplemental question - I have been known to turn a tune or two...

Re: Are You Tough Enough?
How about me? Well...
Would you ever become a wrestler? - Yes.
What sort of style would you have in ring? High flyer or Powerhouse.
Would you try and stay away from the politics? As much as possible, would try and get along with everyone, even if they didn't like me.
Would you be able to be on the road near enough 24/7? - Yeah i would be able to manage it, it's alot easier now than i can imagine in the 80's where internet wasn't as popular so it would be harder to contact love ones.
Do you think you could have what it takes? (Mentally and physically). - Physically not at the moment but i could train, mentally most likely.
Supplemental question:
Can you rap or do you own a bowler hat?
I'm not very good at it but i can rap and no i don't

Re: Are You Tough Enough?
Would you ever become a wrestler? No I'm a complete wuss when it comes to physical confrontation, I'd spend any fight shouting 'not the face!'
What sort of style would you have in ring? One where I lay down for the 3 count immediately to avoid punishment
Would you try and stay away from the politics? No this would be my only strong point, Kevin Nash could learn from me.
Would you be able to be on the road near enough 24/7? Yes, building my own little Machiavellian empire.
Do you think you could have what it takes? (Mentally and physically). No and no

Would you ever become a wrestler?
I would. I remember 10 years ago considering moving to the states and finding a wrestling school.
Would sort of style would you have in the ring? I would be more of a technical wrestler with some strength for some power moves. Would love to take a Mick Foley style bump like at KOTR 1998 because I am sick like that.
Would you try and stay away from the politics?
Depends on what is involved. I would be pro the business and do what is best for the business and not the company.
Would you be able to be on the read near enough 24/7?
Think I could do it. Having read Mick Foley's book and Shawn Michaels book having the right company helps.
Do you think you could have what it takes? Mentally and physically) I think I do. Being tall and quite built I could hack it.
I could botch an entrance and even a promo

I don't think the internet's popularity was the issue in the 80's Miky
Hulk Hogan gets on the tour bus one day in 1988 with a Blackberry in his hand, sits down next to Andre's crate of beer at the back of the bus and says "Look what I've discovered Brother - they're all the rage in Japan"

Y2 - What i meant was that the internet would be less popular then surely? I mean they obviously didn't have stuff like facebook/twitter and probably MSN back then althought i wasn't alive so what do i know!
I wouldn't take drugs to get to the top.
It's probably not worth it in the long run.
On a side note i'm eating Pringles.
Oh and thanks for the responses so far.

If I had a number one contender's match against Hardcore Holly, I'd pre-empt that he was going to hit me with some pretty nasty stiff shots because I'm a rookie punk - so I'd dose up on painkillers before the match.

Re: Are You Tough Enough?
I was seriously considering it before I became seriously ill early last year. If it wasn't for the lasting damage that resulted, I'd still be considering it. I'd probably have a HHH-esque style with a few Foley bumps thrown in for dramatic effect.
I think now, I wouldn't have it in me, mentally or physically...chronic illness can do that to a man.
But yes, I do own a bowler hat.
