OWGR week 39
Pending any changes from the Web.com event (Michael Putnam could have a top-100 impact)..
Dunhill Links OWGR movers....
David Howell moves to #94 from #176
Peter Uihlein moves to #69 from #100
Shane Lowry moves to #71 from #84
Tom Lewis moves to #408 from #657

Putnam (neither of them) not troubling the scorers so far.
Some judicious scheduling and you'd think Uihlein is assured of a WGC-MatchPlay spot and getting closer all the time to Augusta; another step on his road to special Temporary Membership I hope.

Re: OWGR week 39
Really miss the OWGR thread updates each week.
I think Matteo (#31) can win the Portugal Masters this week, and not go up in the rankings.. He is more than half point behind #30 Matsuyama and would need 29 more points to be ahead of him.
I doubt if if the Portugal Masters is going to be OWGR rated at 30 or more.
None of the 2012 Turkey Trotters are playing the Frys this week. IIRC, the concession that Finchem gave the PGAT players who played in Turkey last year was that they had to play Frys in the next 5 years. Year 1, and no one showed up.
Looks like Westy is going to fall another spot in the rankings next week to Schwartzel next week and then another spot to Spieth in a couple weeks just before the BMW Masters. Attrition. Kind of ironic since attrition was the reason how he got the #1 spot from Tiger a couple of years ago.
I wonder when (if?) Westwood will bottom out

Thanks for the info on those guys having to play the fry's sometime soon. I was unaware of that. I wonder if they could collude and all play it the same year to really boost the OWGR points on offer?
Was it the fry's where someone threw a hot dog at tiger?

For sure, Tiger, Rory, Rosie, et al could collude and push the OWGR to mid 40's.
Chubby has definitely bundled his harem of players to boost OWGR rating of a few tournaments. He did it to the KLM a couple of years ago and to Thailand.

Re: OWGR week 39
I was mistaken, the Turkey Trotters have 3 years to play the Frys*com, not 5 years as I previously posted.
If my calculations are correct, Tiger, Rory, Rosie etc would add about 175 EVR to the Frys*com tournament if they all played this week. Assuming that Frys is a OWGR rated 24 (non-subsidized) this week, (100 EVR), the addition of those 8 players would increase the Frys*com to an OWGR 46

In exchange for a release from the tour, they agreed to play the Frys.com Open at least once over the next three years.
Those players were Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Lee Westwood, Justin Rose, Hunter Mahan, Charl Schwartzel, Webb Simpson and Matt Kuchar.

Re: OWGR week 39
Now that the fall events get fedex points, Augusta invites etc (basically proper tour events) will one of them evolve into a bigger event attracting more top players?
I am thinking something like an autumn version of hilton head or the Honda?
If it seems likely one of them will be elevated, so I suggest fry's organisers start making some phone calls to the Turkey trotters to get a head start.

I looked at the bottom of the Race to Dubai money list and Iain Pyman has won €235. Not much even for last place after making the cut at a tournament.

Rory is in 58th on RTD. t8 in PGA and t8 in cadilac getting him into the finale.
just shows you how crucuial it is to be getting into these type of events. plays crap all year long but still makes into the top70.

Re: OWGR week 39
Wonder what the owgr points harvest for this week's winners will be?
Guess: Portugal: 28-30.
Fry's: 30-32
hend0's point about McIlroy is interesting - he'll probably fall out of the R2D Top 60 this week and join the likes of Hanson and Harrington on the outside looking in. Luke Donald not much safer.

Portugal is definitely a 30.
Fry's, not sure, 30 at least. Fields are pretty comparable.

If pube heads 2013 doesnt shake him into doing something about his terrible form he may just disappear in 2014.
If only I didnt have to see his ugly face on every ad break that would be a bonus too.
