You've gotta eat here
First topic message reminder :
Not strictly on topic but I thought it would be interesting to find out where is the best place you've ever eaten. This is your chance to really sell to people how great it was and why they should eat there

You left out "innit", "naughty", "mug" and "behave".
That is reserved for dear old Danny Dyer.
He is light on his trotters, that one. You start mugging him off and asking for gravy on his manner and he is likely to blade you. You two bob c*nt.

This is quite funny as it reminds me of this scotsman I work with - He retired from the navy and married so he lives locally. He spent 5 minutes trying to explain that his wife was on a health kick and now they would have (he did the air quotes) leaves and the other scotsman who is down from headquarters says to him in a patronizing manner - its called a solid mate:

I thought Fish & Chips was a north eastern thing? I thought they just ate hotpot in the west?

We do like hotpot but fish and chips are pretty popular west of the Pennines.

Lancashire / Cheshire is basically an extension of Wales. I see those west of the pennines as being half welsh, like Owen/Speed/Rush. I reckon that's why lamb is popular there.

Think about it. Your sort and the Welsh are pretty much the same. A bit like Geordies and Macams

I believe the term is Mackem.
But yeah, you're actually right. Chester is full of the Welsh. Mainly the Welsh that can afford to leave Wales but you make a valid point.

Mackem / Macam, they are illiterate there so won't be offended.

Used to be a chippie near my mum's house that did a "mock chop". Essentially deep fried "stuff" in batter. Never plucked up the courage to try it, but my sister is as rough as all hell and she used to swear by it.

Would that me the Magpie Tina. Me and TSMR went the other week, it is bloody good.
Yep, the Magpie. Awesome place.
Did you have to queue for ages or not?
Bloody tourists! Magpie isnt a patch on most of the other spots in whitby.
Can never understand the queueing. They are nice but there are plenty of places better without a queue.
Next you will be telling me you queue at betty's in York

Re: You've gotta eat here
a couple of places in Bordeaux in the South of France.
Le Carpe Diem.
In the outskirts, neighbours the university campus. This is a really simple brasseries type place, with delicious and very cheap food. Among the items are: half a duck breast for 7.80 euros, a very good beef steak for 8 euros, a special for 7.80, various savoury tarts or quiches - changed daily - for 6.90. Also look out for their desserts (they have two or three daily specials well worth it). Make sure you get there early (before 12:15) as it's a favourite of many university attendees (if you're a large party you should call and book.
La brasserie Noailles
Situated in the centre of town, near the Opera, this is a more upmarket Brasserie in the Parisian style. Waiters in traditionnal dress, and delicious food. Wouldn't bother much with the starters, which aren't particularly exciting, but the main courses are pretty special, as are the patisseries you get as dessert. The Tournedos de Boeauf Rossini (Beef tournedos with foie gras melted in), Noix de St Jacques au truffes (Scallops in a truffles sauce) or Foie de canard frais poëlé (fresh duck liver pan-fried with fruits) are all exquisite. Make sure you leave some space for the dessert as they will bring out a mouth-watering tray of home-made cakes and tarts for you to choose from. Also have a good extensive wine-list (though don't expect to drink anything red other than Bordeaux) and the waiters will happily advise you on how best to wash down your food. They have some not-too-expensive bottles too, we're usually able to eat there (main course, wine, dessert and coffee) for about 50 euros a head, though obviously this will vary according to how much you spend on wine and how much of it you drink...
