We will look to go on the offensive and play a high intensity, tempo game and aim to get Giteau and Tuilagi on the ball early so they can assert some dominance in the midfield. We've picked a really strong, mobile pack to ensure we can play the game at pace and put Glasgow undre pressure as soon as they have the ball. Halfpenny to take all shots at goal, but will look to control the game and really test the Glasgow defence - we've got try scorers all over the backline and can bring on an impact bench to really finish strongly if the bp is on we will look for it.

Basic Game Plan
Basic tactical premise will be to dominate possession. We will go through the phases were possible and look to starve Zebre of the ball for long periods. We will look for gaps and as the tackles come in make the offload to support runners, with the aim being to continually shift the point of attack and move Zebre players around. Huge focus for us will be winning the collisions and dominating the breakdown.
In defence, as always we will be running a blitz defence. Our focus will be on the gain line collisions and driving back in the tackle. Line speed and no dog-legs will be key components for us. Fowles will sweep in behind the defensive line to counter any chips/grubbers.

We will play a fast paced, high intensity offloading game looking to create space for our halfbacks and to get our back three onto the ball as much possible.
- Conditions show Light Clouds, 14 Degrees, 13 mph Winds
- Fortress Thomond is no more. Munster are not the force of old and have been breached at Thomond more and more often in recent years.
- Target the scrum. Good technical front row supported by plenty of grunt will look to get on top and win penalties.
- Attack from the lineout. Five genuine jumping options allows us to mix it up and really use the lineout as an attacking platform. Look to get the ball to Sexton and Eastmond with space outside.
- Look to mix up play. Sexton & Eastmond to interchange at first receiver and change the point of attack. Care provides a threat snipping around the base.
- Get the back three involved. Zebo, Gilroy and Mogg all to run lines looking for the inside ball or offload to get in behind the opposition defence.
- Hit the breakdown hard. Look to our dynamic front five to clear the ruck and allow the likes of Nyanga & Quedragao to really attack the breakdown.
- Win the backrow battle. Munster looked a different team without captain POM at 6 last week and this is an area we can really dominate with him & O'Donnell injured.
- Straight line blitz defence focusing on a quick line speed to isolate the ball carrier before the gain line. Quedragao will defend on Eastmonds shoulder to double up and also be first on the scene at the breakdown. Care to sweep in behind to cover chips and grubbers.

They looked pretty good last week, seem a better team without the big names tbh. Certainly better than the Blues....awful!

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
All Welsh teams look poor at the moment, if you beat them upfront in the pack you can get big scores on any of them. But all seem to have really good backlines if they get some ball.
Still can't believe Quins lost at home to Scarlets! Think Quins needed to bring in a few more players during pre-season, even though they have some great youngsters.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Scarlets looked far from poor, they blew Quins away. Battered them in the scrum and dominated backrow.
Back play was sublime.
Ospreys looked good against Leinster.
Blues were bloody awful except for Cuthbert

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Scarlets were great on the day but if you look at how they've played before that it was a surprise that Quins got smashed and were lucky to keep it that close. Aren't many Quins players on form, Robshaw is very lucky that Kvesvic hasnt taken his chance properly at Gloucester.
Blues did well in 2nd half, but absolutely humped by Exeter in first 40mins - Ewers, Hill and Slade all looked very good - think Ewers and Hill would be very unlucky not to feature in Saxons

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Ospreys lost at home and didn't even manage a losing bonus point, against a Leinster side that was nowhere near as good as what they've put out over the past couple of seasons. Didn't see the game, but on that basis am not sold on the fact that Ospreys were in any way good.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
So you didn't see the game but Ospreys were in no way good? Interesting conclusion.
I watched it, they played well but Leinster put some great patches together and deserved the win although the score line flattered them slightly.

Mate, we all make assessments based on things other than watching games, unless of course you watch every single match that's played, which I think is unlikely.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Glos 24-21 Ospreys
Osprey’s aren’t pushovers and will give Glos a really tough time here. Feel that Glos have more in the outside backs and half backs to take this.
Glasgow 15-22 Saints
Glasgow do look quite dangerous in their outside backs but Saints have too much quality and tactics are set out for the right game plan here targeting Glasgow’s weaknesses.
Tigers 20-20 Toulouse
Feel Tigers will be equal in front 5 but may struggle when Toulouse’s backrow gets on top of them. At 9-10 Tigers get on top but not sure if they’ll get enough ball. Even out in the backs. Hard to split there two and with Tigers at home I think they’ll sneak a draw.
Zebre 7-35 Wasps
Wasps too strong all over here and will dominate from the off. Easy win.
Clermont 30-0 Falcons
No team.
Quins 30-16 Treviso
Quins too strong, Treviso will put up a fight but that will peter out when the benches are unloaded.
Munster 18-19 Sale
A tough Munster side to come up against here and they are looking pretty strong. Sale will match them man for man and may get an advantage at the half backs. Feel that fortress thomond may play a part but Sale’s tactics pick up on specific weaknesses in Munster well and they will have a snatch and grab victory in an ugly match.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Gloucester 18-17 Ospreys
Ospreys are playing well but see Gloucester having a bit too much in the pack and lineout. Ospreys have the better backline with Gloucester centre combo not really working and poor back 3 bar May but Gloucester be tough to break down and sneak the win.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Glasgow 19-20 Saints
I imagine Glasgow at home would be a different beast from that 1st half performance last week. See Glasgow shading both set pieces with no quality line out op for Saints. Different games in the collision though with Saints providing good ball outside the set piece. Not much in half backs but Saints a step up in backs bar FB. Glasgow will do well from set piece but see Saints sneaking win.

Leicester 20-20 Toulouse
Toulouse will get plenty of joy from the scrum and have a good step in quality in the backrow. Not much in the backlines with Tigers controlling the halfbacks. Toulouse the better side but Tigers at home enough for draw.

Zebre won't be a pushover but Wasps control most aspects of the game bar line out. Routine win.

Harlequins 28-9 Treviso
Another routine win from a solid Quins side, too much for Treviso.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Glos 21 - 17 Ospreys
Home advantage and quality of Carter decisive here, probably look at starting Mills at 12 over Masi due to form and also he's injured now too.
Tigers 24-22 Toulouse
Really close game, think Tigers can get back at Toulouse set piece when Sheridan and Cole come on second half and still think Toulofa doesnt provide the exact quality ball that Toulouse would need to win away from home. Class halfback partnership from TIgers too.
Zebre 19-31 Wasps
Wasps very strong here, quality all over but think it will just stop short of being a landslide due to inexperience of their no9. Easy win away from home and will be a bp win.
Clermont 30-0 Falcons
No team.
Quins 32-14 Treviso
Too much from the Quins bench and the game will just run away from Treviso as the game goes on. Another BP win for an English team against the Italians.
Munster 9-12 Sale
Wont be an easy game to win but Munster havent' really impressed me much this season and SJE makes a good point that without two players they have injured in the pack they have shown they can be got at. Wont be high scoring at all and can see Sexton being the most important player in this game.

Munster 22-22 Sale
Another tight game upfront with Munster dominating lineout and Sale getting nudge on in the scrum. Not much in the backrows but Sale control the halfbacks. Munster have the better backline but just can't see them having enough for win.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Glos 26-18 Ospreys
Ospreys aren't exactly push overs but Glaws have more about them in the backs and at home should win out comfortable enough in the end.
Glasgow 17-20 Saints
Saints win out in the pack and stronger in the backs but Priestland stops them from ever really pulling away.
Tigers 19-18 Toulouse
Good pack battle. Toulouse slightly edge the backrow but not much between the sides. Toulouse stronger 11-15 but Tigers a step up at halfback. Real ding dong affair and home advantage takes it.
Zebre 9-35 Wasps
Not much to say. Walk over for Wasps.
Clermont 30-0 Falcons
No team.
Quins 33-20 Treviso
Quins stronger in most areas but the Italians are resilient and make this hard work. At home Quins pick up a bonus point but away they will need more for the 5 points.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
Gloucester 26 - 22 Ospreys
Glos has the power and quality to overpower the O's, but they look a little frail in the back line to Biggar's probing kicks. Should be enough however at home and off the bench to see them to the W.
Glasgow Warriors 19 - 25 Northampton Saints
Warriors have the potential to be a bannana skin and also develop into one hell of a team, but you look at the Saints style of game and they blow Glasgow away. Only slight worry is that Simpson and Priestland axis could be got at in the high pressure games.
Leicester Tigers 24 - 22 Toulouse
Toulouse have a large amount of power in the pack, but Tigers have the experience and guile to manipulate their opponents at the breakdown. Again there is more experience down the spine of the Tigers team which will guide them to victory, despite the efforts of the Toulouse back three and front five.
Zebre 17 - 34 London Wasps
Too much in every department from Wasps as they blow Zebre away.
Clermont 30-0 Newcastle
Harlequins 27 - 16 Benetton Treviso
Quins face a decent battle here but as the game wears on and their bench comes into the game, they will secure a strong home win.
Munster 27 - 29 Sale Sharks
Biggest game of the round. Munster have the backs to damage at home, but lack the regular firepower from up front and Sale can take advantage of that secure themselves a historic away win.

Glasgow Warriors 19 - 25 Northampton Saints
Tough away game but saints class shines through. A fit and firing priest land is great but at
Moment he hampers saints
Leicester Tigers 29- 22 Toulouse
Home advantage experience and nous see Leicester take a physical encounter
Zebre 23- 54 London Wasps
Routine win in an open game
Clermont 30-0 Newcastle
Harlequins 30-12Benetton Treviso
Quins will have to scrap to get on top but as game progresses and benches are used they just secure BP
Munster 27 - 28Sale Sharks
Sale have enough up front to get on top and limit the ball to Munsters dangerous backs. Close fought victory

Gloucester Rugby 35 Ospreys 19
Glasgow Warriors 23 Northampton Saints 25
Leicester Tigers 19 Toulouse 16
Toulouse showed on Friday night how good they are up front, and in particular in the back row, where they can get a real edge here. However, Tigers have a top class half back pairing, which Toulouse don't, and that 8,9,10 axis sees them through to a good home win.

Re: Heineken Cup Round Two
SJE with Luatua he was called up to replace McCaw on the day of the game because McCaw (I think) was injured and ruled out. Not sure there was a lot I could do about that one as predictions already opened and he wasn't in the NZ team and I wasn't around to change the players.

It's the gamble you take Chris.
This has been mentioned since I've been back, if there's a chance they may be involved selecting them is up to you.
