The Seven Year Rule

Jim Cornette famously stated that there was an unwritten rule in professional wrestling: the Seven Year Rule. The general premise is that after 7 years it is acceptable to re-use gimmicks or storylines due to there being a turnover in the fanbase so newer fans won’t know / remember what happened 7 years previously and those longtime fans that do remember will only make up a small percentage of the audience anyway.

So I ask you faithful 606v2ers to travel back to the heady days of 2006 and pluck a gimmick or storyline from the ether and transplant it onto a talent from today. The only rule is you can’t take a gimmick or storyline from a wrestler in 2006 and transplant it onto the same wrestler in 2013.

I think with the success of The Shield and The Wyatt Family then stables are hot to trot so whom better to cash in on this success then a redoing of the Spirit Squad.

How the IWC would love Cheerleader Generico, Cheerleader Chris Hero, Cheerleader PAC and Cheerleader Callihan all being led by Cheerleader Bo Dallas.

Too late Hero WWE have brought it out

John Cena receives a traumatic brain injury and becomes the next Eugene. Then he'd have an excuse for his "jokes".

The Vince and Shane vs HBK and God match in 2006 was a worldy.

But as I cant use the same characters i'd have Triple H and Brad Maddox vs Daniel Bryan and John The Baptist. Just as Bryan looks to be heading for defeat a mysterious figure comes from the crowd and onto the ring apron. He draws back his hood and reveals himself as John Cena who is now repackaged as John The Baptist. He nails his new finisher The Baptism of Fire aka the AA for the win.

Book it.

I know this is now the 'reality era' but let's hope there isn't a rehash of the Benoit character,for me that went too far beyond the fourth wall.

To be fair I don't think the Benoit character would work in today's WWE. Sure he might kill a few jobbers with the Crippler Crossface but the minute he started getting over John Cena would be out to play the part of the weights machine.
