England Legends v Australia Legends
Half time at The Stoop. (Sky Sports 4) 12-0
Jason Robinson just scorched down the left wing to score England's second. Noon got the first after Robinson did all the flashy stuff. Strange to see these players again...

Steve Thompson just runs the whole length of the field to score England's 3rd.
Coz I know you're all interested.

On Sky Sports 4.
Just finished. 17-12 to England.
I'll take that scoreline on Saturday.
Thanks for the reply Doc - thought the thread was going to be entirely mine!!

I was too slow. Turned it on just in time to see the discussions with Vickery, Jason R., Gommersall, et al.

If Thompson wants some more rugby I'm sure we could do with him at Quins on Saturday

Could anyone possibly provide the line-ups please? I didn't realise this was on and can't seem to find any information other than ticket websites...

Also just seen a clip (but would still appreciate the line ups) of the Thompson try... Why are Australia playing in South Africa's kit?

Re: England Legends v Australia Legends
Wow have to say some of the ball handling and skills shown by England in particular would put a lot of the current NH teams to shame - makes me think that professionalism isn't entirely good for the quality of the game.
Poor old Jason Leonard looks like he's seen better days but some of the other lads looked in decent nick, in particular Jason Robinson and Andy Gomersal ....Thompsons try was just ridiculous too, looks like he's got even quicker!

Bit of a miss match there in fairness. The Ozzies were a bit pants really.

Yes, it was never really close was it? Nice consolation try for them at the end though.

Re: England Legends v Australia Legends
Was this a kind of Strictly Come Dancing affair?
Where one guy turns up who genuinely hasn't a clue..and neither has his oversized belly
And yet another trim thighed guy turns up and swears on his mother's life that he hasn't been doing twelve hour shifts for the last six months ... "scouts honour, I've never ever ever practiced till I nearly died!"

Re: England Legends v Australia Legends
Certainly Robinson looked like he has kept himself very fit and so when he stretched his legs there weren't many that got anywhere near him. Mind you he used to do that back in the day - so perhaps a poor example. Thompson looked next fastest!!SecretFly wrote:Was this a kind of Strictly Come Dancing affair?

I wonder why MJ wasn't there.
Or Dayglo, or Hill etc.
And most of those Wannabes weren't exactly even leg-ends.
Who/what was it in aid of?

According to Green and Gold Rugby the purpose of the match was:
The moment Jonny Wilkinson slotted a drop goal in extra time of the 2003 Rugby World Cup final is one that will forever be scarred in the minds of any true Australian rugby fan.
That was the moment that broke our hearts, but now… it’s pay back time!
Ten years after that match, the Aussie and English legends are set to battle it out in London.
This competitive and highly charged match will see an array of former Rugby World Cup stars returning to the field, with a combined total of more than 1450 Test caps between the sides.
Jason Leonard, Martin Corry, Jason Robinson, Phil Vickery and Josh Lewsey will form part of the English side, to take on Aussie veterans including Stirling Mortlock, Al Baxter, Chris Whitaker and Richard Harry.
The match will support two important charities, Restart and The Injured Player’s function, and will mark exactly 10 years since Martin Johnson lifted the Webb Ellis Club for England in Sydney.
