Unpopular Football Opinions?
do you have any opinions on Football which you would consider to be unpopular among other football fans for example "i think Stoke will finish in the top 6 this season" anything like that?

Barcelona are the most boring team to watch in the world with a defence that can't defend for it's life.

the first part may be controversial, but the second is an indisputable fact, Smithy.
For some reason saying Ronaldo is a great player leads to comments about his hair, narcissism, and hairdresser. So I suspect it's an unpopular viewpoint.

I said Swansea would finish above both Merseyside clubs this season.
I also seem to be the only one that appreciates Michael Turner's greatness

Barcelona are the scum of the earth.
La Liga is god awful.
The only thing that makes the Bundesliga the best is the financial model they run on.
The MLS is an exciting league.

Probably the most unpopular opinion, of all time, in global football

If taken game by game and place by place, the SPL is a fun, exciting watch

Henrik Larsson was better than Ibrahimovic.

Without a doubt he was better, I think the unpopular opinion would be thinking the opposite.

Paul Scholes is the best English midfielder of the last 20 years and if used properly, would have been the difference between England reaching a 1/4 or a semi final

I agree with that too. As a non-united fan Scholes was simply sensational. If only he could tackle!

Re: Unpopular Football Opinions?
Unpopular (and in some cases, possibly erroneous. You choose) football opinions:
Alan Shearer knows what he's talking about
Actually, I felt quite sorry for Ally MacLeod
Mario Balotelli is as sane as you and I
Women's football is really quite good
John Terry is NOT a racist
John Fashanu was really sorry about what happened to his brother
In the FA we trust
Howard Webb is not a Manchester United supporter. Honest.
There should be more female referees / Assistant Referees
Millwall fans are simply misunderstood. They just need a hug
There was never any such thing as Fergie Time. It was a media myth
Sure, you can trust Harry Redknapp with the money
Roy Keane should have let bygones be bygones and just sent Alf Inge Haaland a Christmas card instead
I can actually understand what Charlie Nicholas is saying in his match reports on Soccer Saturday
Tony Pulis: Football purist.

Re: Unpopular Football Opinions?
Football should bring back the three foreigner rule.
Any club who spends more than one season in debt should be removed from the most profitable competition as punishment. (Including Europe)
The champions league should only involve champions, this top 4 malarkey is the biggest pile of crock ever.
Football Tournament draws should not be seeded or matter were you come from if you end up with Barcelona, Man Utd, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in one group, tough.
Diving is acceptable in football

Re: Unpopular Football Opinions?
The ref was two yards away, if he gives a penalty it's his fault.
He is paid to make these decisions, the player is paid to win football matches.

I'd change your comment slightly to say that diving is accepted (and indeed condoned) in professional football.
It would be a start if commentators didn't talk about players 'winning' penalties or free kicks, and particular when they talk about players being 'clever' in doing so (i.e. putting themselves into a position where they initiate contact from the defender and then go down easer that a $5 lady of loose morals).
Some refs need to grow a pair as well, and start booking players for diving even if there is a little contact - football is not and never has been a completely non-contact sport, and just making contact does not constitute a foul. To offset this, I'd like to see them also give penalties for all the holding and shirt pulling that goes on in the box waiting for set pieces.

Re: Unpopular Football Opinions?
The Fifa coach of the year is a stupid award. I cant see how coaching Munich to a Champions league title is definitively harder than winning the Sudanese 2nd division, with players who receive death threats from militants.
