James O'Connor
Just wondering if anyone could tell me what this is referring to:
"He has been dealt a pretty crook hand down under and it wouldn't happen here." Brian Smith, LI coach.
Now, all I know is that the lad was a bit too fond o the sauce at inappropriate times. But drinking too much I would call stupidity, not a crook hand. So what IS Mr Smith talking about???

His new coach is hardly likely to say "He has been a complete dick down under and it had better not happen here."Cowshot wrote:Just wondering if anyone could tell me what this is referring to:

Re: James O'Connor
Hmm. O'Connor is very upfront that he's been foolish and isn't trying to hide it. Smith talks of getting a second chance himself at LI. And we can't really claim that British Rugby players never drink or take drugs so why he'd be safer from that here than down under I don't know.
Maybe it is just a coincidence of phrasing, but I did get a sense that something else was being alluded to and wondered if anyone knew what. But thanks for taking the trouble to reply anyway.

Happy to see JOC has found someone new to rent out the spare room up his rear end now that the ARU have evicted themselves. I wonder how long before Smith gets sick of the unreasonably loud music from upstairs and comes to understand that one team's trash shouldn't be treated as another team's treasure trove.
