Astonishing Recovery
Just seen that State Bank of Pakistan have somehow saved their match with National Bank of Pakistan after following-on nearly 400 runs behind.
This must rank as one of the great recoveries. The state bank, replying to 435-5dec, were bowled out for just 53, but managed 526 in their second innings and earned a draw.
OK, it doesn't quite rank with the famous English county match when Warwickshire won after being bowled out for 15, but it's still some feat. Can anyone else come up with something similar in won/saved matches?

Yes, that was some turnaround, as was Leeds 81 when Botham and Willis went mad. When Hanif got his 337 at Bridgetown in the 1950s against Windies, Pakistan followed on many 100s behind and saved the match.

I remember this test quite well. Maybe not up their with 1981, but a good comeback to save the draw.

Re: Astonishing Recovery
I remember one back in 2009 when India saved the Napier test by batting for complete two days. Gambhir batted for more than 600 minutes and 400+ balls.

Ah, 1987. Gatting at his peak. Nine Test 100s in around two years and one of the best batsman in the world.

Yep, from around the Indian tour in 1984 to about 1987 followed a disappointing first few years in test cricket.sirfredperry wrote:Ah, 1987. Gatting at his peak. Nine Test 100s in around two years and one of the best batsman in the world.
