John Cena Says London Deserves to Host WrestleMania 31
This would be great
Could you see it happening?
I think UK crowds have done themselves no harm over the last few years.
However as much as id love it, I just cant see WWE taking the risk.

If the Olympic Stadium had a roof it would be ideal. Wembley capacity with people on the pitch would be near 100k

Don't see it happening it would either have to take place from 12-4am or the US market would get spoilers before It's aired

Yeah it's purely to try and get Cena a decent pop from the fans, the buyrate in the States would plummet.

I dont think Wrestlemania would come to the UK but I dont see any reason why any other PPV couldnt. Imagine the Royal Rumble. The ROYAL Rumble. In the UK. Which has a ROYAL Family.
This sells itself.

Re: John Cena Says London Deserves to Host WrestleMania 31
My aim is to go to Wrestlemania 31, so this would certainly cut down on my travel costs!!!
I personally don't see the problem with hosting over here. So what if the USA gets spoilers, I have to wait until the early hours of the morning or the next day to watch RAW, Smackdown and even PPV's. So the USA can deal with it for ONE Wrestlemania I'm sure.
With plenty of other US sports being held over here like the NFL and NBA, I don't see why we're not a plausible target to host a Wrestlemania. Wembley and the Olympic Stadium are both venues that can hold Wrestlemania style crowds.
Wembley can hold 90,000 seated, plus a few thousand more sitting on the pitch area. The Olympic Stadium can hold 80,000 seated, plus a few thousand more sitting on the pitch area. The crowd would be one of the best due to the British/European fans and would easily give this years New Jersey crowd (predominantly made up of British/European fans) a run for it's money, except on the biggest stage of them all, instead of the following RAW.

Ive written an article on it before, Survivor Series is the one to bring over here. A once prestigious event in the calendar that has lost its lustre. Big crowd over here would bring it back a bit.
They'll never change the time, not for Wrestlemania especially, so it'd be a 12-4 event. Could work, people over here are mad, but transport links would be an issue. The Olympic stadium will be looking to be down to 60,000 so could be ok, with 5,000 on the pitch or so. I think some American fans would travel, dont forget that they travel massive distances in the US as it is. They get people from all over, so they would probably come here too. Would people in this country pay the astronomical fees for tickets when its in their own backyard (my ticket cost a couple hundred quid at least)? I can see a few people allowing themselves to do it, but they wouldnt take the kids too!
Not soon, but maybe one day.

I don't think a WM will be hosted over here anytime soon but if the NFL can have games here then there is no reason why a PPV won't be in the near future.

This is a man who uses cancer victims and armed conflicts to get himself over. I wouldn't put too much stock in such a promo.

Re: John Cena Says London Deserves to Host WrestleMania 31
While the 12-4 thing is obviously an issue, a lot of people do stay up to that time in the UK to watch it on TV so it's not out of the question that they would go to see it live at that time. I certainly would. I think it'd sell out easily, it could be a once in a lifetime thing. Long-term, a PPV in the UK might not work as less and less people are bothered about going to see it, particularly at those times.
The main issue I can see is essentially the nuisance caused by the noise of the stadium and the lack of public transport.
The other option, and one that I think could work as well considering the PPV is on a Sunday is have it earlier in both countries. So show it at 8pm in the UK, making it the afternoon in the US. Then it can still be shown live.

I dont think wrestlemania would come to the UK but maybe as suggested by Chris a survivor series or summerslam, maybe even one of the lesser ppvs.
How about (as mentioned on the podcast) revamping King of the Ring, that could be a good way to kick off the ppv with big stadium crowds etc.
I think your right some sort of compromise with the times is needed, so late evening in UK and afternoon in the USA.

no because they would lose ppv buys in their biggest market (America) due to it starting very early in the evening as opposed to the usual time slot.

Yeah I bumped into Cena in Gregg's and he was telling everyone in there how Gregg's deserved to host a Wrestlemania. Think he was trying to get out of paying for his steak bake and sausage & bean melt. They charged him full whack though so fair play to themKay Fabe wrote:Cena probably just tells everyone this, paying lip service to the locals

If they wanted to host a big ppv and have a roof, millennium stadium is the answer. You could get 100,000 (74k seats already without taking in to account those that can be placed on the pitch) there and i'd argue that it would have a big crowd. In the US, getting 50,000+ for any show other than WM is unrealistic due to how often they get wrestling shows. Hold RR, SummerSlam or Survivor Series over here and treat it like a proper PPV will see you get a huge gate and probably cover the lack of US buyrates.

Millenium Stadium is by far best in the country for atmosphere especially with pyros and involved crowds
in terms of location it is less famous than London as far as pitching it to the yanks but its no more difficult to get to than London for a lot of people
id go
