Re: What is the most you have paid for something?
it rather depends on what counts as "anything"? are we talking one single item, or could it be something like a holiday somewhere, or an event? If a single item, then it would be my spouse's engagement ring (about 2200 euros). If I can count a holiday, then I spent about 5 weeks in China two years and a bit ago, which probably cost me 3000 euros or so (flights included).
Too young to own a flat or a house, and haven't had the need for a car yet, but would expect those two to be high up on most people's lists...

I paid £120 for a Villa ticket v Man Utd in the Carling Cup final.
Didn't turn out to well.

Re: What is the most you have paid for something?
Is the question the most I've ever paid for anything, or the most overpriced thing I've ever paid for?
my dad bought my car for me, so my biggest expense is probably the white tyres and tricked out rims I bought in June.... It probably exchanged to about £2000. Lived on Bread and noodles alone that month.
the most overpriced thing I've ever paid for, so to speak, was a few weeks ago in Ethiopia, when I tried to "encourage" a local to take me to Axum to meet the keeper of the Ark of the Covenant ... S.o.b took my money and forgot how to get there when I told him about my plans in Axum....

Spent 2 weeks in Ibiza 5 or 6 years ago. For some reason I'd got it in to my head that the exchange rate was something like 3 euros to the pound. As such I was doing 200-300 euros a day so when I got back and found out I'd spanked over £4k I was a little perturbed.

I have 4 kids. Must be up to somewhere close to £100,000 by now. Possibly more.
They are all under 12 so by the time they have all left home, I expect that figure to be considerably larger.
I still love them, though.

Outside of house and car, bought TSMR a ring for her 40th that was pretty expensive, went to New York to do it as well so on reflection it cost a bleeding fortune. However, on the plus side I have no kids so it could be worse.

Outside of the obvious ones, house and car, I bought the bird a 2500 watch a couple of months ago, as watches go it isn't cheap but it most certainly isn't expensive either.
I've got a road bike, with the modifications I've made it's somewhere around 1600 quid. Again, that isn't really very expensive for a road bike when you consider what you can pay.

I've got a proper dog, non of these accessory breeds. If a dog can't win in a fight with an average human then it isn't a dog I'd own.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:What about accessories for your Labradoodle? Labradoodles are actually proper dogs. I want a labrador and the missus wants a lap dog. We were going to get a Labradoodle as a compromise but she's paying so I think it is going to be a cockapoo now.

An average human is just your regular guy on the street. Doesn't exercise a lot and isn't particularly strong. This is the type of guy a dog should be able to beat up in a fight.Mind the windows Tino. wrote:What's an 'average' human and is your dog called a) Tyson or b) Reuben?Lumbering_Jack wrote:

I would quite happily go for a rescue dog but the missus wants a non-molting breed and I don't really want my cats to be eaten.
I do quite like bedlington terrier / lurcher x (gypo's breed of choice) and I think she would have gone for that but it seems her heart is set on a cockapoo.

Excluding the obvious (car, house) I spent about £8K on what was meant to be a once-in-a lifetime holiday for the family to Disneyworld in Orlando. It was so good we went again this year.
In terms of luxury items, I've bought a couple of pieces of art for around £1500 - £2000 each.

Because chavvy scum get them as status symbols. Staffies are one of only 2 breeds the kennel club would recommend you having when a new born child is brought into the home.seanmichaels wrote:Rescue homes are full of Staffies for a reason......Lumbering_Jack wrote:Get one from a rescue home Sean... I view people getting handbag dogs in the same way I do famous people adopting black babies. They don't love them as much as they would a proper dog (or their own baby) but do it as a kind of conversation starter. Attention seeking one might say.
