Get Rowley on 15 to 1 Empty Get Rowley on 15 to 1

Post by Il Gialloblu Thu 12 Dec 2013, 3:54 pm

Our resident Yorkshire Mod, Rowley, has been talking about how much of a fan of 15 to 1 he is. Look:

Rowley wrote:Perhaps says quite a lot about how empty a life I lead but I am ridiculously excited about this (not the celebrity specials). Loved 15 to 1, was about perfect, testing without being ridiculous and plenty of questions rather than pointless filler and "banter".

He really loves it!

When asked if he would apply to appear on the new series, he said this:

Rowley wrote:Doubt it IL, if it is at the same level as the last time am probably not bright enough. Would not humiliate myself but would certainly get nowhere near winning.

He doubts it! That wasn't 'no'!

I reckon he secretly would love to go on. Not even Sandi Toksvig being the new host would put him off.

With this in mind, I think we should show him how much we reckon he should apply. He's The People's Mod. Who wouldn't love to see him on there, answering questions in a Yorkshire accent?

I've set up a poll, where voting 'yes' means you want him to apply. Voting 'no' means you think he shouldn't not. You can vote for up to two answers. Leave a message too, saying why you think he should go on. Consider it like a petition.

We get enough votes, you never know. You only live once, Rowley! Seize the day! Be v2's 15 to 1 representative!

I also applied for pointless Spencer and have not heard anything, really thought we had a chance as the kid I applied with has a brother who had previously been on but did not do us any good.

It's a great show. Just watching it now. My brother and I know a lot of rubbish on complimentary subjects so I'm a bit gutted we didnt get a chance. I can never understand people choosing things like film on the last round as it is so vague a subject. You gets some right stinker questions

Likewise me and the mate who applied had a decent spread, he knew a lot about clever stuff like US presidents and science and I know a lot of Girls Aloud singles, we pretty much had everything covered.

I voted "yes", if there was a "resounding yes" I would have voted for that. Be careful of concentrating too much on one topic when you brush up beforehand. I was in a pub quiz recently where I had countries ending in "istan" covered and it never came up.

I revised US presidents for Pointless appearance that is seemingly never going to happen. Honestly, in what situation ever is knowing Calvin Coolidge was the 30th US president ever going to be useful?

Just had to jump aboard the 'applied for Pointless but haven't heard anything' bandwagon. Sport and chemistry would be destroyed, but anything remotely art based would result in blank looks. Tremendous show though.

15-1 is a bit beyond me though, not sure there would be much on women's cricket. Right behind the campaign to get Rowley on though.

Get Rowley on 15 to 1 Empty Re: Get Rowley on 15 to 1

Post by Il Gialloblu Fri 13 Dec 2013, 4:26 am

I thought Deal or No Deal would have been a good one to go on, a few years back. The questions were pretty easy. Always wondered how long people had to stay there for, and if they were taking time off work etc. Found the FAQs on the DOND website.

Q6. How many shows do you film a day?
Some contestants seem to be on the show for a long time, do all these people take over a month off work?
We film 3/4 shows a day, 5 days a week for two weeks at a time. We film 15 shows a week. We do ask for a commitment for up to four weeks. Lucy Harrington attended a record breaking 50 shows our longest and one of our most loved contestants.

Q11. How do you find contestants that can take so much time off?
People are really committed to the show. They sacrifice their holidays; they turn down work if they are self- employed. We have even had a few contestants that have given up their jobs to be on the show!

Sod that.

Would rather meet Az and Truss than the pair of them Tina. Actually, getting a 606 team to go on eggheads is not a bad idea.

I'd be up for it. The only show I'd avoid is University Challenge (a bit too old to qualify anyway) - some seriously obscure stuff on that.

We all sneer at you anyway, Duty, so what is one more person. What would your specialist subject be? I'm going to have to stick with insects.

Fairly certain Derek must be an old poster. You wouldn't resurrect this thread without actively searching it out. Could actually be Geoff/Jeff Rowley (pronounced Rowley) himself. Wouldn't put it past him.

I don't mind being sneered at by you wonderful lot, but Vine is another matter. My specialist subject would probably be best saved for Mastermind.

Rowley is now the Met Police Commissioner, so he's far too busy to go around resurrecting old threads.

[quote Fairly certain Derek must be an old poster. You wouldn't resurrect this thread without actively searching it out. Could actually be Geoff/Jeff Rowley (pronounced Rowley) himself. Wouldn't put it past him. [/quote]

Window-tha Cristie clap
Not JR though.Just a minor poster with little cache'.
It's nice to wrap myself in the nostalgia of 2013, back when we were all happy but didn't realise it

Reminds me of that clip, not sure what show it was, when a woman was asked which Dutch city was the international capital of peace and justice.

She said that the only Dutch cities she knew were Belgium and Bruges and went for Belgium.

She then groaned 'oh no' in an 'he's got it' sort of way when her opponent opted for Geneva.

That’s a Tipping Point special. Along with two contestants thinking Homer Simpson was the same Homer who wrote the Iliad.

Laugh

They make David Lammy's Mastermind appearance look the work of a genius.
