Murray v Sturm 2 on the cards ?
The daily mail are reporting that Martin Murray is considering a lucrative offer from team Sturm in a rematch, as publicised Murray has pulled out of his scheduled paper title fight with Jarrod Fletcher. How do you see this going if it happens ? Sturm beats him for me, thought he nicked the first one and will win this one a little clearer.
As a sidenote, does anyone find the British middleweight scene is vastly overrated , Sky were potentially saying fights between Barker, Murray, Macklin and Lee could be Huge PPV events, really ? Find them no better than your Chris Pyatts , Howard Eastman and Neville Browns of the world. Decent operators but no great shakes.
Cheers Rodders

The fight with Fletcher had already been changed from a vacant title fight to an interim defence, which is in part why he's pulled out in my opinion.
It all depends how Sturm fights I suppose, if Sturm fights like he did against Barker then he'll bank a lot of the early rounds, but at some stage you get old. Murray told us on the podcast last year that he was worried about gassing in the first Sturm fight hence the lack of output so we could see a more active Murray who is willing to let his shots go more.
The PPV thing is rubbish, they'd be fantastic domestic fights but unless all four of them are fighting on the same card plus a superb undercard then it shouldn't be anywhere near PPV.

Classic case of Murray ducking GGG.
If Murray agrees to fight Sturm, he'll be stripped of his 'interim' WBA strap.
Sturm wins by wide UD.

I'd say there's more chance that the WBA would upgrade GGG to Champion of the known universe and take sanctioning fees off the pair of them before allowing their "two" champions to fight.
While Murray has been potentially offered a shot at a genuine World Champ, don't blame him for taking it in the slightest.

GGG won't be promoted unless he fights his mandatory, which is Murray.hampo171 wrote:Gerry SA wrote:Classic case of Murray ducking GGG.

Considering Murray's running for the hills, GGG will have to unify his belt with Martinez/Quillin to become 'super' champion.

Re: Murray v Sturm 2 on the cards ?
There are other WBA Champions that don't hold other belts that have been elevated to Super Champion mate, and the original plan was to do that this time.
If the rumours are true Murray has gone for a shot at genuine world champion, nobody can complain that he'll be a paper champion if he beats Sturm.

The WBA seem to, much like the WBC, pick and choose who'll get promoted.hampo171 wrote:There are other WBA Champions that don't hold other belts that have been elevated to Super Champion mate, and the original plan was to do that this time.

Beibut Shumenov was promoted after not fighting for 15 months
Yet GGG requesting to get promoted was declined.
