Best action fights of 2014 potential? Empty Best action fights of 2014 potential?

Post by catchweight Thu 23 Jan 2014, 12:40 am

Excluding rematches:

Stevenson v Kovolov - everyone wants this
Mattysse v Maidana - Argentine all action rivalry
Marquez v Provodnikov - Anyone remember the Diaz v Marquez shootout a few years ago? Could be a repeat.
Golovkin v Froch - unstoppable force meets immoveable object
Matt Macklin v Martin Murray - Possible repeat of Macklin v Moore, domestic pride at stake
Frampton v Quigg - both talented aggressive fighters with a domestic edge
Garcia v Ortiz - involves Garcia jumping a weight class but could be a belter

Others?

Provodnikov vs Rios has been mooted I think.

Not saying either man is ever going to be number one in their division, and don't expect to be dazzled by any technical wizardry,  but if these two ever fight, boy what a scrap it could be.

Everryone on this forum likes to say Rios is crap, but his resume would be look a lot better if he had beat Broner, who ducked him for ever at lightweight.

I think Rios relied too much on his size advantage at lightweight. I don't rate him to much to be honest.

I think we'll see Stevenson vs Kovalev this year and Frampton vs Santa Cruz.

Canelo vs Angulo will be violent and I'm still hopeful Martinez may take on GGG towards the end of the year.

I think we'll see Mayweather - Manny in the fall..........

Especially If Manny labors against Bradley........and wins..

Leonard watched Hagler do Mugabi..........Let's face it he may as well as wait for Manny to look crap because he won't get any respect for beating him anyway..

Think Quigg-Frampton will be made.......Around October......

Have a feeling Khan - Brook may be made If Brook can't get a title shot as appeasement for fans who moan that Brook won't GET on with it........Probably Khan's crossroads fight too.......

Groves - Degale in the fall also........After Groves wins the wbo title....Think froch will avoid a rematch..

Mayweather and Pacquiao won't fight until the Showtime deal is done. 49-0 and a free agent. He'll make more money than he ever has before.

Frampton are looking at Santa Cruz for the WBC title. They're hoping to get that one made this summer.

Still think Quigg-Frampton happens sooner rather than later........

Be a big fight whilst they are both unbeaten.............Quigg's draw certainly made some people re-evaluate as to how high he can go.......

Better to do it before one is exposed.

Don't think DeGale beats Bika anyway but don't know if Fat Mick has enough pull to secure Chunky a shot at Groves if George was to get the WBO belt. Also, don't think Grove/Chunky will be an all-action fight. DeGale will have seen what Groves did to Froch and be reluctant to stay in range. It will be a cagey affair.

I agree. Same deal with Mayweather vs Pac, though. Can't see that being action packed.

Wouldn't mind seeing Provodnikov vs Matthysse.

Rios vs Provodnikov or Rios vs Danny Garcia.

Garcia and Matthysse are on the wrong side of the TV divide. If Pacquiao goes for Bradley then I think Provo gets Marquez or Rios.

Yeah I know that, but 2014 should be the year Uncle Bob and Oscar bury the hatchet...

Only if it's Bob physically doing so into the back of Oscar's head.

Brook isn't as cute as he thinks he is.........and it could turn into a real battle..

I forgot about Kirkland. He has the potential to be a belter. I think Golovkin is far too hot for him to handle though.
