Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 4
Just a quick round up off the groups as I haven't the time to update the tables on here.
Pool 1 - Sarries can top the group with a draw or better. Defeat leaves the door open for Glaws.
Pool 2 - Wide open. Sale 8 points, Exeter 7 points, Tigers 6 points.
Pool 3 - Win for Quins sees them through. Anything less leaves the door open for Worc.
Pool 4 - Straight shoot out between Wasps & Saints both on 13 points each

Manager – Pooly
16. Tiaan Liebenberg 17. Max Lahiff 18. Paul Hill 19. Louis Deacon 20. Carl Fearns 21. Luke Burgess 22. Gareth Steenson 23. Ryan Crotty
Tactics:
General - We've selected a team packed with power and physicality and will look to dominate the contact and get over the gain line. We'll be playing a high tempo physical game from the off, look to smash the opposition back and get into the rucks/maul's and drive through. We'll look to tie the opposition in and then get at their backline, more so in the their half. Look to keep it tight in the forward pack and grind through work.
Scrum - Look to get a platform from the off with a strong scrummaging unit. Strong front 5 with big locks will look for the big push once the ball is in and drive the opposition back. Our LH and Hooker will look to target TH and try to get between him and Hooker to allow TH to work on LH If no weakness seen will use as restart.
Line out - Look to play it safe and use the rolling maul to good effect. Our big pack should have a lot of joy here and will tie in the opposition defence. We'll look to contest on opp throw especially when sub get on the pitch as we feel we can really pressure him.
Defence - High intensity and big hits, looking to drive past the ball player. Huge physical pack that can look to dominate the collision and breakdown allowing Henry etc a chance to slow down/steal ball. Scrum half to sweep behind the defensive line.
Attack - Keep things simple in our own half then look to unleash backs in opp territory. Scrum half to inject pace from the breakdown and have Lowe on his shoulder. SBW to run at 10 channel and target possible weakness. SBW also to be used as decoy running at OC looking to take him out of the defensive line to free up space for Lowe to get at the outside.

Tactics brief as Pete swamped and cannot enter his. As ever win set piece collisions and then play. As game progresses look to open up more and also use bench. Target BP via open rugby and pace and power

Struggling to find time to get a team in as tucked up massively at work. Can I just go with whoever I put out last week please, unless they are on international duty in which case could someone just swap some players in for me.

London Wasps
Manager Ozzy3213
16. Rob Hawkins 17. Ben Alexander 18. Fraser Balmain 19. Ruan Botha 20. Marcell Coetzee 21.Nathan Fowles 22. Camille Lopez 23. Tom Collins
Tactics
Kick to the corners. Tight carrying gameplan close to the rucks using big forwards. In opposition 22 if it is on we will open up and try to put our back 3 into space. Big emphasis on the set piece and using the maul to good effect from lineouts. In defence we will blitz and look to control the gainline with Aaron Smith sweeping behind the line. FH will take all opportunities for points from penalties.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 4
Gloucester 22-22 Wasps
Really tight affair this one. Wasps take the pack, the scrum especially will be sided their way. Gloucester get the edge on in the halfbacks and centres. To close to call with home advantage.
Irish 34-18 Scarlets
Newcastle 30-12 Dragons
Cardiff 17-27 Harlequins
Tigers 28-24 Bath
A little bit more overall for Tigers and at home they'll be difficult to beat. Bath have some kids out which aren't quite at Tigers kevel.
Ospreys 19-28 Sale
Worcester 21-20 Exeter
Another really tight affair with two well set out sides. Overall not a great deal in it with some strong combo's out. See Worcester getting on top in the scrum and home advantage sees them through.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 4
Glaws 26-20 Wasps
Slight edge to Wasps at scrum time but not a lot else between the packs. Midfield and halfback battle goes to Glaws while Wasps are stronger overall in the back three. At home Glaws see this one out.
London Irish 39-20 Scarlets
Falcons 28-15 NGD
Saints 18-17 Sarries
Saints with more spark in the backline but Falcons bench makes it tight. Home advantage decides this one.
Blues 17-30 Quins
Tigers 26-22 Bath
Tigers can get on top in the backrow battle and win the game there.
Worc 28-27 Exeter
Worc with a bit more in the backrow and at home should take a very tight game.

Falcons 30-10 dragons
Blues 12-30 quins
Ospreys 15-28 sale
Glos 24-24 wasps
Tough game to split, both will get messy ball but have the half backs to tidy up, good impact from both benches.
Saints 23-21 sarries
Feel saints can gain an advantage in the centre's and back row but no tactics and sarries bench keeps it close
Tigers 24-20 bath
Tigers depth is scary here but baths kids are going to give a good fight
Warriors 24-23 chiefs
Warriors are targeting this game and have fielded a strong squad here, not a lot in it but feel they will take the back row battle

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 4
Gloucester 20 - 22 Wasps
Really strong front row battle for a AW game, edge to Wasps. Think Wasps look a bit stronger at second row too, and overall look stronger in the front 5. I like the potential in Gloucs' back row, but right now Wasps with more about them. Wasps take the pack. Gloucs take the HB's with quality, and look stronger in the centres too. Prefer Wasps back three. Think Wasps can get on top on the forwards, and nick a great win here.
Irish 32 - 18 Scarlets
Newcastle 37 - 20 Dragons
Saints 29 - 15 Saracens
Decent front row contest that might just edge to Saints. Bit more class in the second row for Saints, but the back row contest is fairly even. Overall I think Saints have a bit more about them in pack. Bit more experience sees Saints win the HB battle, and they dominate in the centres. Back threes a bit more even. Saints have taken this more serious, and get a fairly comfortable win in the end.
Blues 15 - 25 Harlequins
Ospreys 19 - 24 Sale
Worcester 26 - 21 Exeter
Bit more in the Worcs front row, whilst the second row battle looks a really good one with no clear winner. Slightly stronger back row from Worcs, and overall think they edge the pack battle. Prefer Exeter at HB, with centres a fairly good battle. Neither side dominates the back three contest for me. Think at home, Worcs with a stronger pack, edge it.

Re: Anglo Welsh Cup Round 4
Gloucester 24 - 22 London Wasps
Cracking contest here. I think Wasps might slightly edge the forwards but Glaws have enough ball for the backs to put Wasps to the sword at home.
London Irish 30 - 20 Scarlets
Newcastle Falcons 38 - 18 Newport Gwent Dragons
Northampton Saints 25 - 21 Saracens
Good hard game for Saints, but they have smashes of quality throughout the side which when they get ball in hand, just blow Sarries away.
Cardiff Blues 15 - 29 Harlequins
Leicester Tigers 23 - 20 Bath Rugby
Tigers have a quality side throughout and can control the game and some of the younger boys from the Bath side. Bath look elusive when they get the ball wide but tigers will grind out the win.

Gutted. Just shows how daft the system is in real life for this competition, as I've lost one game by one point in the pool stage and am knocked out.

Agree Pete. You and Worc can feel very hard done by when both myself and Gloucester get through on lower point totals!

Ah them's the rules mate, I knew it was going to be a tough ask when I had Gloucester away and Saints were at home. Worcester can be even more aggrieved than me, they never lost a game and are out!
