What's in the bag 2014? Any imminent transfers?
We haven't done this for ages...
No imminent transfers for me, recently changed woods and putter so that should be me for the foreseeable.
913 D2 10.5 (set to 12deg)
913 F 15 (set to 16.5 deg)
913 H 17 (set to 18.5 deg)
712 CB 4-6 iron
712 MB 7-PW
Vokey SM 52.08
Vokey SM 58.12
Odyssey White Hot Pro DART
Subs bench (only carrying 13 at present)
Ping G15 17 deg hybrid - carry distance wise it fills the gap between my 913 H and 4 iron.
712 CB 3 iron - apparently don't get much more carry with this than my 4iron.
Scotty Cameron Newport - faithful servant for nearly 6 years, jury is out on whether the odyssey will stay in the bag. 'should' suit me better and certainly working well on its initial outings - will see how it gets on once the season gets underway.

I've got my new Cleveland irons only used twice. I have a newish burner 3 wood and an oldish Cleveland hybrid. Have a pretty old R7 driver and and benross putter. It's my birthday coming up so thinking of asking family members to upgrade the driver and putter. You can get some decent looking ones pretty cheap online. Though yet to decide.

I'm going to try and get a new driver again. Tried last year but couldn't gain more than a couple of yards, and no discernible improvement in accuracy. Going to try the new Nike, new Cobra, new Big Bertha and the SLDR. No idea when I'll get a chance, mind.

Just had a look at the odssey you have. It is a horror. You need to get that out the back, and soon.
With a set of clubs like you have do you not worry that any poor rounds and you will be the all the gear and no game guy?
Just please don't tell me you have an electric trolley?
I rarely carry more than a half set of irons, one hybrid and a driver. I usually go for the even numbered irons because I like hitting my 8 iron.

Yep, it's a tad Ugleee. Surprisingly effective though. The alignment aid works well. An experiment to be honest - cheapest face balanced white hot pro I could find!

It the sort of putter that when used by an opponent I assume they have had some mental trauma's on the green, and are at some sort of last resort. Get the scotty back in play.

As for being 'that guy', I keep the hood on my bag at all times -and I definitely don't own an electric trolley. Carrying for bounce games and stick the stand bag on a trolley for comps.

We'll see. As I said it's an experiment!

Good to hear there is no electric trolley involved.
Although I often think as long as club golfers don't wear a cap, then all else is forgivable.

Most assuredly that is the line which is never crossed by a golfer with even the smallest shred of self respect.

Just get an endorsement deal and it is perfectly respectable to wear a cap.

Re: What's in the bag 2014? Any imminent transfers?
Some of you may recall that the face of my Taylormade Burner 2 7 iron caved in last November. It was out of warranty, and initially TM refused to do anything about it. After the pro got involved, and explained to them that it was due to a manufacturing defect and not anything else, they relented.
So TM agreed to send me a replacement. However the Burner 2 range was discontinued, so after a long delay (more than two months) they sent a TM Speedblade 7 iron instead. It works fine, goes the same distance, it just looks totally different so the resale value of my irons is severely diminished now. Never mind, I guess that's just life. I was surprised that they couldn't supply me with a new head, even if it meant getting a shaft for it myself. I also commented on the time it took to give me a replacement - due to "component shortages" apparently. As another gesture of goodwill, they sent me a R1 driver as well. Chances to try it have been few so far, but it does go significantly further than my R7, although not necessarily straighter. I'll need to practice with it for a while I think before I hit it in anger. With the weather as it is, I'm not sure when that's likely to be.
Whatever, a thumbs up to Taylormade customer service.
It's a shame that it wasn't the 6 iron that broke, because there are loads of them lying around pro shops, since it's the 6 that TM use as a demo club. I'm looking on ebay as well, haven't seen a 7 yet - except as part of a set.
On the subject of wedges, to cross with another thread, I have three old Ram Tom Watson wedges (50, 55 and 60 degrees). Depending on course, and course conditions, I usually carry two of them (normally 50 and 60 degrees). Since I got those TM irons, I've struggled with shots of 60-80 yards, and 105-110. The TM wedge (which is really a 9 iron in disguise) goes 115-125 yards, depending on season. The Ram 50 goes 90-95 yards, the 55 degree goes 80-90, and the 60 degree goes 50. I seem to be continually between distances. I need better course management I guess, but I notice lots of guys now with 4 or even 5 wedges in their bags. Hitting a 5 iron 180 yards makes us all feel great but creates lots of issues closer to the green.

What's in the bag won't change I don't think this year, however what's outside the clubs might (OK - I mean bag).
Oh, and I might get a replacement electric trolley and a new cap

A flat cap is obviously fine, I can't believe you would think otherwise.

I'm going to invest in a chipping iron for the coming year. I hate short chips and always make a hash of them. Has anyone tried these and does anyone have any brand recommendations?
Also are there differing loft options?

I saw a longridge one that was both left and right handed (ie a face either side of the shaft) which I thought was intriguing and could be useful for extricating ones self from the doo doo, but for the number of times it'd be used could be a bit gimmicky.

Thanks Roller. You don't think a two-faced club would be against the spirit of the game??

Nothing significant - not the readies for any 'proper' transfers! Re-shafted my driver with something a bit less butch and now much happier with it. Put the old driver shaft in a 3W head and that's actually brilliant - just goes to show how head/shaft pairings can be critical.

sell off all your old gear navy if you've got any. i think my woods and irons cost less than £200 after selling off my old club clutter and adding competition winnings over the past couple of seasons. now i've a much happier better half as my clubs live in my locker at the club, and i've only a handful of clubs kicking around at home.

Navy you've missed the transfer window now, you'll have to step up and make a serious investment next time - I suggest a big name driver to spearhead your attack, something that demonstrates "intent". The fans are already restless, a couple of poor rounds on the course and they will be baying for your blood. You could always bring in a couple of new clubs on loan?

Re: What's in the bag 2014? Any imminent transfers?
I made a couple of additions over xmas, but this was much more Harry Redknapp wheeler dealing in the lower leagues (think Kevin Doyle) rather than exciting new talent.
I have had a 910 driver for a couple of years which is still going strong so decided to complement it and bring in a 910 Fd 3 wood. Had to search long and hard to find one with the exact matching shaft to the driver. It was a new club but obviously significantly cheaper than the current 913 model. Will be setting up the driver to draw and the 3 wood to fade to give me options at the top of the bag.
I also made a surprise signing and bought a 19 deg 910 hybrid to play in the hole between my irons and the front 2. This replaces my 16 deg taylormade rescue, which is now languishing in the reserves. This rescue has been an automatic first choice in my starting XIV since 2005, you don't see hybrids with steel shafts any more, so there will be few takers for this club... looks like retirement.

Would love to revamp the whole squad and get a set of AP2's, but unfortunately that will require Abramovich / Sheikh Mansour style outside investment
