Paul Tito for Wales?
Hidden away in a BBC article about whether or not Dwayne Peel will face Wales for the Barbarians in a few weeks' time was this little morsel:
'Paul Tito - now Welsh-qualified and rumoured to be on the provisional squad list for the World Cup...'
How do others feel about that news? My view is that it's embarrassing for Wales that we might be calling up a foreign player, albeit Welsh-qualified, to the national setup, and that it would be embarrassing for Paul Tito himself to return to New Zealand wearing a Wales jersey.
Your thoughts?

Hmmm, Tito was never close to the ABs when he was in NZ, and now that he's approaching retirement I'd hope he's not one of the 4 or 5 best locks in Wales as the implication isn't great for Welsh rugby.
I'd also hope he'd turn it down, but you never know - the desire to have a crack at international rugby could prove too much.

Kiwi, if the World Cup was being held anywhere else, the temptation to accept the offer (if it comes) and to experience international rugby might be too strong for him to resist; but as it's in New Zealand, I just think he won't do it.

I don't think Tito will go for it. He's said before he'd only play if we really had no one else. What are the likes of Lou Reed who've been called up to the squad supposed to think if Tito gets the nod over them? It would be ridiculous to include him I think!

Besides adding a little grunt, he really is not that good. Nice club player. But thats all. Shouldn't come near a Wales jersey.

Tito is not among the top four locks in the country, so i don't know why he should go to the RWC just based on the fact that Wales are playing in the area of NZ he knows well.

If Tito gets the call it will make a mockery of all things Welsh.

I was under the impression he had allready declared his disinterest.
Also he has been openly critical of Gantland's game plan on a few occasions.
I can't see Galtalnd being a big fan of his.
Also I think he's well past his best.
However a few crucial injuries and we could be desperate, but surely not desperate enough for that!

Yeah but if he scored the try to win The Cup he'd get a leek of honour.

Re: Paul Tito for Wales?
I wouldn't leek on him if he was on fire in selection terms:
AWJ
Gough
Reed
Welch
D Jones
A Jones
Charteris
Coombes
I'd tempt Sidoli out of retirement
R Jones
even J Thomas
or V Cooper!
Must all be ahead of him in the pecking order? What are the regions for ffs? To give foreigners a chance of becoming Welsh? Do me a favour and do one!
