To be fair bellchees, I'd give the interview a listen. Whilst some will question decisions he makes he was very open and honest as to why he does stop fights (gave his reasoning behind the Selby v Munroe contest...and also discusses the Shannon Briggs incident) if anything it's worth a listen just to get the perspective of someone who is actually in far closer and more personal than any of us ever will be.

I'll have to give it a listen after work, any explanation for the shocking stoppage of Enzo a little while ago?

Sorry bellchees, we didn't manage to get on to that particular issue! But as Owen has said, Ian did give us a really top-class interview.

Michael Jennings gave us some great answers, too. It's a long podcast, but try to stick with it!

Just split it up across the week thats what I do when it's over an hour long.

Shame we missed out on the Enzo stoppage though his answers do give you an insight into the thought process that maybe went behind the decision.

Think we were in agreement afterwards, that it is a difficult job to do and when you've been slated before/ or had a tragedy occur it must have huge knock on effect further down the line in the way you handle a fight.

I think he touched on the Enzo one when he said "after all, referees are only human"

That to me says that he acknowledges he has made mistakes

Michael Jennings came across as a clued up intelligent down to earth guy. I hope he makes a real go as a trainer, the apprentice scheme seems like the perfect simple idea that no one ever thought of. Another great interview.
