NZ back on top of the Sevens game
http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/sevens/9700503/New-Zealand-claim-Wellington-sevens-title
I just got to the stadium when a 10 minute dumping of very heavy rain hit the NZ Fiji game minutes later. After the loss NZ regrouped and then went on 178 points to 0 run up to and including the final, 21-0 over South Africa.
With 4 to go in the series it looks to be a NZ SA race to the title. Pity about the weather this time though, the worst Ive seen for years.

Congrats on the win, Taylor.
I watched bits of it on Friday and yesterday. The two best teams of the tourny were in the Cup final. The conditions did get more miserable towards the end but NZ played brilliantly.
Animated crowd there as usual - some great eye candy there in the capital!
Good to see Canada and USA doing well too.

Thats a very good point you raise LB about the two North American countries, The advances that Canada have made in the game over the last year are astonishing.
On another note, I only just realised that Cameron Clarke the Aussie player is the son of Greg Clarke from channel 7.

Yes, that's right, laurie.
I think I'd heard that about a year ago but then have completely forgotten about it ever since.
Greg Clarke got excited in one match... I forget who, maybe it was Kenya... and I was thinking "oh no... he's gonna curse us!" the way he starts pouring superlatives on certain Oz players. Of course, that's exactly what happened.... later in the day.
Oz are just too error-strewn and hot & cold for this format of rugby. We are never consistent from one round to the next or even between games. Makes them hard to watch for me.

Clarkie is a true professional, at one stage yesterday after Cameron scored a try, they had a camera shot on his mother in the stand and greg didnt give a hint.

I like Greg Clarke, good commentator, pretty neat that his son is in the team. Wonder if he was born in NZ when Clarkie did his stint here way back?
Proud of the AB sevens, played smart. Mikkleson can't kick for peanuts though, uggggly.

Great win for NZ, South Africa disappointed in Wellington.
Their defence let them down badly with lots of missed or ineffective tackles.
It looks like it will be a two horse race this season.

NZ took a leaf out of SA's defensive book and that's what gave them the tournament. Great to see NZ being tested by SA and how they responded after the Fiji pool defeat. Intriguing series set up and NZ will be relieved to break the SA hoodoo.

Tman I can't get over the fact that teams like SA and NZ are holding teams out and keeping them scoreless. Over one game yes but over a series of games unbelievable!
