32 teams in 32 days: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Record: 4-12
Offensive Rank: 32nd, Points: 30th, Passing: 32nd, Rushing: 22nd
Defensive Rank: 17th, Points: 21st, Passing: 17th, Rushing: 15th
Offensive MVP: Vincent Jackson
Offensive LVP: Whomever played QB
Defensive MVP: Lavonte David
Defensive LVP: Daniel Te'o Nesheim
Story of the Season:
The Bucs season started with a ridiculous bout of infighting between HC Greg Schiano and incumbent QB Josh Freeman, which eventually led to Freemans benching and release, and the Bucs season over at midseason at 0-8. The Bucs fought back somewhat down the stretch to restore some pride at 4-12, but it wasn't enough to save Greg Schiano, as Lovie Smith and company were parachuted in to bring back the good old days.
2014 Outlook:
Lovie Smith returns after a stint in Chicago where his teams were generally good, but not good enough, and his first priority lies where he struggled mightily in Chicago. Cultivating an offense. Much will lie on the shoulders of Doug Martin, who never really got going in 2013 before hitting IR, and decisions must be made on Mike Glennon, who had a few bright spots but never really looked the part. Defensively, there is a lot of talent for Lovie to work with, but the defense badly needs some form of edge pressure.
2014 Draft Needs:
Primarily beefing up both lines. None of the DEs on the roster were able to generate any consistent pressure, even with McCoy demanding double teams inside, so Barr or Mack would make a lot of sense. Decisions need to be made on Penn and Joseph on the OL who had struggles in 2013. Wouldn't rule out a QB if one dropped, though unlikely.

I think it's harsh to say Mike Glennon was the offensive LVP. I thought he played well. I'd give that one to Davin Joseph who is truly terrible.
The key for Lovie Smith is to center his defensive scheme around Darrelle Revis. He is the best cornerback in the NFL. You leave him on an island with your opponent's best receiver and roll coverage to the other side of the field.

Mike Glennon had an about average season as a rookie QB. From what I saw of him in a few games he looked good enough. There are things he could work on but again he is/ was a rookie. He atleast deserves a chance as starting QB this year. He came into a bad situation last year.
The Buccaneers look pretty stocked at RB with Doug Martin to return and Mike James there too. They have enough talent to be competitive in a strong division but need good management and focus.
I think the Buccaneers could go anywhere in the draft. Taylor Lewan OL could be a possibility. Mosley, Barr, Mack, Evans could all be alternatives.

As stated, the entire offensive line with the exception of the massively underrated Demar Dotson was responsible for our woes. Hopefully we'll get Carl Nicks back....
We desperately need a nickel corner and a slot receiver too.
