Who would you bring back to life
If you had the choice to bring one Wrestler back from the death and throw their character straight into the main event scene, who would it be?

Would Benoit be brought back from the dead but with the "killing people" thing hanging around him? Or is that outside kayfabe so we're fine

I loved Randy Savage and while he is in my opinion pne of the greatest ever I think we all saw him at his peak and on top, I dont think we even scratched the surface with Mike Awesome, I think hr had everything needed to be a main event player so I'd like to see how he would slot in

Based on nothing more than Hero banging on about him, I'd go for Brian Pillman to see if he could main event as easily as many think he would have.

Benoit v Bryan would be a great watch, not sure Benoit fits in with the current story in WWE mind.
I'm one of those who saw much more in Owen Hart than others, I think he'd be perfect for this generation of wrestling so he'd be my pick.

Eddie Guerrero for me. There isn't really any need to justify it.
Guerrero v Punk
Guerrero v Bryan
Guerrero v Cena
Even Guerrero v Del Rio
All of these would be money.

Agree. May I also add Guerrero v Cesaro, Guerrero v Sheamus and Guerrero v Christian.

Re: Who would you bring back to life
I hate how Brian Pillman is so overhyped because of his 'potential'. Personally I didn't see anything particularly special in him. The gimmick might have been controversial at the time because it had never been seen before but if he were to be in the main event with that gimmick now it wouldn't be anything new.

I was wondering how long till this became a Guerrero tug-off. Which one of you is Chavo?

Re: Who would you bring back to life
I'm a huge Pillman mark and I give no apology for that, as part of the Blondes he often outshone Austin, he was one of the first American wrestlers to bring a more aerial style to the American audience.
And his promos, well Ambrose clearly studied them and if anyone is a fan of Ambrose then I thoroughly recommend watching back on Pillman when he took on the Loose Cannon gimmick. Most people recall him for his later career WWE run but that was after he'd been in a coma for a week from driving head first into a tree, wrestling wise he was unable to do any of his earlier moves as his ankle was permanently fixed in a walking position.

Mr Perfect
Owen Hart
I'm not sure today's business would see either as main event championship material, but I certainly miss them the most.

Surely your not implying in any way that Eddie Guerreron was overrated? If so I demand a full explanation...

wouldn't say he's overhyped at all although people who die before they reach their expected potential will always be remembered fondly, its far from a sympathy vote though, he kayfabed the crap put of Eric Bischoff at the time Bischoff thought he ran Wrestling, that just shows you how intense he was as a character and a person, he didn't have any great matches in the WWF due to his injuries but his promos were insanely good.
I often wonder what would have became of The Rock if Pillman didn't pass away, Rock obviously had it all but just needed the confidence however I don't think they wpuld have been in such a rush to push Rock if they had Pillman to go up against Austin in 98 and 99

it depends what you consider overrated, I'd put Eddie on a par with Owen Hart, both where exceptional talents but neither werenin that top bracket of guys who I consider genuine top tier talents, guys who will sell out arenas by name alone

I'd pick Guerrero as well. Think his match with El Rey tore the roof off the place, and his planned battle with Shawn Michaels the following WM would have caused a mini-rapture...

I'd pick the man who I think is the greatest heel of all time, Rick Rude.

Not a big fan. He was about as good as Owen, Kay Fabe is right, but for some reason gets remembered as this bonafide, walking 5 star match.
You just wait till House finishes his betamax copy of Guerrero vs Samurai Warrior number 6 and finds this thread

He was always a pale imitation of the original Green Ninja, his 4 hour draw with the Labrador Kid was a classic

Re: Who would you bring back to life
In response to the Pillman messages:
I say him, because he's one of those that was there on the mid card from about 1990, always tapping on the door to main event, but without quite reaching it. A smaller man in a big man's business he rose through a strong WCW roster by putting on top matches; his bouts against Jushin Liger and the future Raven were brilliant for the time. His tenure in the WWF was scuppered through injury an ultimately his death so we never got to see his actual peak as a star.
Others that have been mentioned already peaked before their demise. Eddie Guerrero, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Chris Benoit, Randy Savage, Mr Perfect, Rick Rude; you saw pretty much everything they had to offer. I'm not saying lining them up against some of the talent today wouldn't produce great matches, I'm saying that Pillman is the one where I wanted to see where they would've taken him. The rest we already had.
