Freddie Roachs Complete Fighter
Out of every fighter Roach worked with, this is what he would have as his complete fighter:
Boxing talent: James Toney
Power: Mike Tyson
Jab: Virgil Hill
Chin: Steve Collins
Work Rate/Dedication: Manny Pacquiao
Speed: Manny Pacquiao
Defensive skills: Virgil Hill
What do you say? I think its from a few years back so there is the potential for changes. Maybe Toney ahead of Hill for defence? Chavez for chin?

Re: Freddie Roachs Complete Fighter
Would have thought that Freddie would have plumped for someone like Hopkins over Hill when it comes to defensive skills; don't think Hopkins would have been tattooed by Dariusz's jab the way Hill was, for instance.
But then again, Roach and Hopkins haven't been on good terms since Hopkins lambasted Roach for his performance in his corner for the Calzaghe fight (Hopkins being Hopkins, he wanted to lay the blame for losing at someone else's door!) which might explain it.

Re: Freddie Roachs Complete Fighter
It's just the abridged version truss:
Boxing brain: amir khan
It is interesting he picks hill over toney and Bhop for defence.
Collins was a tough man but was shaken up by Eubank. Don't recall seeing him in trouble apart from that, and he fought some punchers. Jcc junior not fought the same quality but yet to see him wobbled by anything... and he leads with his face... So would agree he might replace him.

Re: Freddie Roachs Complete Fighter
In the meantime since that interview, Roach has done a fair bit of work with Rigondeaux, and he's said that, for him, Rigondeaux surpasses Toney as the greatest pure talent he's seen up close and personal.
If I didn't have Roach's own words to go on, I'd probably look at the fighters he's chief seconded and say that all-round boxing talent goes to Rigondeaux, power to Tyson, jab to Hill, chin to Toney, work rate / dedication to Pacquiao (former) and Hopkins (latter), speed to Pacquiao and defensive skills to Rigondeaux as well.
Interesting that that ring intelligence or something to that effect isn't mentioned, though. From Roach's charges I'd say Hopkins gets the nod there.
