Film Facts That Surprised You Empty Film Facts That Surprised You

It hadn't occurred to me that the term "bunny boiler" actually originated from Fatal Attraction, despite the film's famous, bunny boiling scene.  I presumed the term pre-existed the film and used, purely, to exemplify Alex Forrest's descent into madness.

Which film facts surprised you?

In Hook as Tink flies over London carrying Peter to Neverland, the couple on the bridge that float off after getting caked in fairy dust is George Lucas and Carrie Fisher

The number of people who think Titanic is a good film.

The fact no-one has shot George Lucas for creating Jar Jar Binks

Cameron Diaz still gets work.

Jason Statham hasn't rec'd an Oscar nomination

I was convinced that Leo was mentally retarded when I saw What's Eating Gilbert Grape, having not seen him in anything before. It took much aggressive convincing before I realised that he was acting.

We've got a couple of wild ones where I live in SE London. I tried pointing them out to the kitten when I had her over Xmas but she just looked at the end of my finger then attacked it.

Trying sticking your finger up your bum first and then watch the cat's face. For greater amusement, insert aforementioned digit into a stranger's rear end and watch the cat's face (if you can see through your badly swollen eyes, that is)

Ranulph Fiennes trying to detonate the set of Doctor Dolittle, and Tony Zale (the boxer) constantly knocking Paul Newman out during the filming of Graziano's life were other facts I found surprising.

Knew the story about Newman. He was a bit big for his boots at the beginning but having been given a slap he gained a much needed respect for fighters and the fight game.

Things in movies that surprise you:

The appallingly awful possibility that Jason Statham may one day be nominated for an Oscar

Sean Connery played the part of Harrison Ford's father in the Indiana Jones series, and yet there is only 12 years age difference between them.

In the special edition of Aliens, the part of Ellen Ripley's daughter was played by Sigourney Weaver's mum.

David Fincher asked a stuntman to fall down a staircase for 12 takes in the making of the scrap between Norton and Pitt in Fight Club.  He then went and used the first take.  The git....!!

Before Kubrick took over the making of A Clockwork Orange writer Anthony Burgess considered selling the movie rights to Mick Jagger with the intention of Jagger playing Alex and the rest of the Stones playing the other Droogs.   Wot..?   Keef with eyeliner? Don't be silly.

Psycho was the first film in America to show a toilet flushing.

The South Park movie uses the F word 199 times.  The uncle f***ers

Sean Connery played the part of Dustin Hoffman's father in Family Business, and yet there is only 7 years age difference between them.

Disney turned down the chance to make Back to the Future claiming the mother/son relationship was too risqué

Alan Rickman was dropped a second early to get his true reaction to falling from the Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard.

Is it true that when the alien pops out of the guys chest in Alien the actors didn't know it was going to happen and one of them ended up fainting?

In the film Law Abiding Citizen - Jamie Foxx and Gerard Butler had signed on to play the opposite characters (Butler the lawyer and Foxx the convict) but on the first day of filming they switched the roles

@Hulk

Yup, only John Hurt and the film crew knew. None of the actors had a clue as he wanted real reactions. It's on the special edition disc somewhere

Im not sure if its true but I read somewhere that Face Off was orignally meant to star Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone instead of Nicolas Cage and John Travolta.

Woody Harrelson's big break in movies was White Men Can't Jump - a role he only got because they hired Keanu Reeves for it but then realised he was terrible at basketball. So Woody was brought in as a last minute replacement.

How BAD would that film have been with Keanu as the white lead???!
