Carb Cyclying
I train heavy 3 or four times a week. Only days I eat carbs is when I lift. Other days I just eat fats and protein and LOADS of veg. I allow myself one cheat meal once every 10 days. I have to say carb cycling is working great for me. I have lost fat but no strength or muscle. I understand that everyone is different but I find this type of diet works best for me.
What about you guys. Do any of you have any good diet tips to share??

Re: Carb Cyclying
THe old timers used to cut out the Carbs too..........Fats and protein and then munch crap on Sunday's.......
Can't argue with them...
Must admit though I do like my Pasta........Have a 40/60 carb - Protein ratio.........
It's what works for you and by your posts I can see it does..
This sport is all about what works for you...........I don't do Flyes or seated rows because I never got much from them..Others swear by them..
Always been a strong chinner/pullup guy though and they have been good to me..
If I don't have my carbs I tend to feel like crud..

Re: Carb Cyclying
I do loads of chins and weighted dips. An example of chest day for would be
2 or 3 sets of 5-6 rep bench for the power.
incline dumbbells 3-4 sets of 10-12 reps
Finish with weighted dips were Really try to focus on hitting the chest/triceps.

Re: Carb Cyclying
We havent even got a pec dec mate, gym is as old skool as they come. We have a machine to do cable flys which isnt bad. Think Pec dec is also great way to begin a chest session.
Shouldn't use too much energy and good way to get blood in to the muscle to have it nice and warm. Same with shrugs for shoulders. Good way to get blood into shoulders with out working them too hard. Sorry if not making any sense, hard to explain

Re: Carb Cyclying
I'm on a cut at the minute, dont really count calories.
I would guess on low/no carb days probably 1500. Thats 3 or 4 days a week.
On training days Id say between 2500-3000.
I want to lose fat slowly and try and preserve as much strength and muscle as possible. Id be happy to lose a pound a week.
When am maintaining I would eat similar amount as yourself.

Re: Carb Cyclying
I Never calorie count.... my diet during the week looks roughly
4.30 am 500ml milk
5.00 am Raw oats, (with milk)
10 am chicken wraps
12 pm pre workout shake
2pm post workout shake
4 - chicken salad
6.30... hope to god my girl is sleeping over, and therefore cooking - otherwise - 2 helpings of instant Lasagna.
So I'd say 40:40:20 protein/carbon/fat
weekend - bit of reifer, lots of steak....
Starting with some volume training next week for three months - gonna defo increase my caloric intake (Its also basketball season)

Re: Carb Cyclying
I could do with more fruits in my diet... Think I'm going to make a concerted effort starting tomorrow. Thanks mate.
But I'm from northern Johannesburg - we take pre-workout shake before going down stairs. Stopped popping vitamin pills when a uni lecturer (specialised in waste management) told me all I'm doing is creating really expensive urine...
