She coached Llodra. I am very impressed with Andy and his decision.

Very good appointment as Mauresmo played with a lot of guile, aggression and variety...something that is Andy's inherent game but went missing for a while. We can expect to see him volleying a bit more...

I will wait to see the results before judging this appointment. Fingers crossed that it works out.

I wonder if Andy is blazing a trail again? Will we see Becker ditched for Evert and Edberg dumped for Navratilova?

Is it a good decision ? Is it a bad decision ? Only the future will tell. Nobody knew how things would work out with Lendl. So the same questions were in place when he took on the coaching role. If Murray thinks it to be the best way forward that's the important thing.
On a lighter note.. How consistently good was Mauresmo's service game ? That is where Murray really needs to step up if he is going to win more slams

Oh, so making fun of homosexuals is in, then....bogbrush wrote:Yes, let's be pompous and above all that, and let's confuse sexism with puns on sexuality.banbrotam wrote:We'll judge how successful it is by how successful Murray is
Meanwhile, I'm not certain that the giggling behind the bike sheds, with mildly sexist comments are what we need on this forum. Let's leave that to the comments section of The Sun
One things for certain anyone questioning Andy's motivation has surely had it positively answered by this appointment
There's something very childish about this thread.
it's not such a surprising thing for Murray to do. All that he is today is because of his mother, who coached him until he was 17. He was brought up in a single-parent family, after his parents separated when he was young, so he's accustomed to having a strong female figure in his life.

I'm curious to hear more Craig... I'm also unsure, though hopeful of course, for the reasons expressed earlier in this thread.
I know you fancied a technical coach rather than an ex pro. Is that it or are there deeper reasons?

Fair play to him, Mauresmo has the recent coaching pedigree and if she's tactically sound, then this is a good move.
From what we know of Murray, I'm sure that this is an appointment made after much consideration.
Does the gender really matter? Not for me, other than as a historical footnote.

Gotta love Gulbis.
He was interviewed on Radio 2 and he said he was hoping to be coached by Sharapova or Ivanovic but he can't decide which!

I'd pick Ana. There's a clause in MaSha contracts which I find unconstitutional.

...looks like Gulbis will be squaring off against Dimitrov in the locker rooms then!

Navaratilova or BJK would straighten him out in a jiffy.
