Cardiff Blues' home to be renamed BT Sport Cardiff Arms Park after lucrative naming rights deal is secured

See I don't know whether this is a wind up or not. If not, fair play to them for getting more money and for BT to stick one up to Sky
The bit that most interested me about this story (if true) was that BT Sports were looking to sponsor all four of the Welsh regions. This would be brilliant news, especially for us Dragons fans - not only the extra revenue but at last a decent sponsor !

See I thought it WAS a wind up but the journalist swears not on twitter AND its gone midday.
Will be interesting if true, don't BT Sports already sponsor a Rabbo team ? Can't remember if its Embra or Glasgea

It's both Scottish teams, as shirt sponsors, and BT (not Sport) are shirt sponsors for Ulster. Dunno what that means in terms of dosh for the teams, but it may or may not be coincidence that Sky declined to televise two of Glasgow's HC pool games this season.
You'll also see BT Sport emblazoned on the chests of Wales' 7's players.

Lads, this ‘story’ has been out for 24 hours, but no other media outlet seems to have even touched it. Not on

Yet, not listed as an April Fools story –

Can anyone come up with another version of this story other than Wales Online or links back to Simon Thomas’ story

Nope, not yet. It would be odd for them to still have it and other stories surrounding it on their website if it was a prank mind.

Depends who's prank it is. If it's the 'paper' it would be a bit weird carrying it on so long.
But if it was a 'source'...

Lots of dosh and more dosh for the Regions if the shirt sponsorship goes through. Which is nice
