Canelo v Lara in the making
Interesting article, Lara is the first choice. But Canelo doesn't want it to be for a belt as he considers floyd the champ at lmw.

I think that's the best thing I've read in years. Well done Alvarez.

Good fight but may not BE a good fight if that makes sense. Lara has the potential to make this one awkward for Canelo (and the viewing audience) depending which version of him turns up.
Props to everyone involved if it comes off though.

Just shows what a loss does to a fighter, makes him just go after the best.
If only the fighter who gave Alvarez that loss would take note.

Fair play to Canelo if true.
For a young guy who some criticised for being overrated to possibly fight Trout, Mayweather, Lara and Cotto/Martinez winner he should be applauded.

The alphabet org. (whichever one it is) will lay a brick (think of the sanctioning fees they'll miss out on as the fight will be PPV).

Great if this comes off. I think Alvarez handlers need to be careful with how he is matched or he could be finished at a young age similar to Vargas. Already been a pro for 8 years and had over 40 fights at the age of 23. That's going to take it's toll as he approaches 30.

I know what you mean Dave, it's a great fight to for the lmw division, but as a spectacle it won't be a gatti ward type of fight. I hope it comes off, Lara would have to put his title to one side for a career high payday, that would be one of the things I'd be most impressed with. Alverez would be aware that every fan knows a trinket belt offers nothing to the marketing of this fight considering his loss to Pbf. Other fighters could take note.

Re: Canelo v Lara in the making
Hats off to Canelo if this goes through, Lara is easily the best fighter at 154 excluding Floyd and Canelo wants to prove himself which should be comended
Really tough fight for him though, as DSchaefer said, Lara is like a slightly better version of trout in almost every way and while I thought Canelo beat trout clearly it was a close fight.
Canelo needs to keep his weight under control as he needs lots of stamina to beat trout and needs to work the body a lot like angulo did, use his power and strength to bully trout.

Very tough fight and respect to him for taking it. Lara has the elusivity that troubled against Mayweather and Trout and more experience than Trout plus better athleticism, sped and power.
The relative performances vs Angulo do make me think twice though.

Yeh, he looked tip-top against Angulo, however Angulo is nothing special and looked awful that fight.
Canelo looks great against straight-line come-forward fighters, not exactly a trait of the average pedigree Cuban though....!

Re: Canelo v Lara in the making
I don't know what to think of Lara, he looked pretty good against Williams, should have lost to Molina, looked poor against Martirosyan, struggled against Angulo but then looked superb against Trout. There is literally no level of consistency in his performances and this fight could go any way because of that, he could just as easily dominate Alvarez as get dominated.
