The Eddie Hearn/ Tony Sins Connection - Page 5 Empty The Eddie Hearn/ Tony Sins Connection

Post by Strongback Fri 11 Apr 2014, 8:48 pm

First topic message reminder :

Apparently it goes like this,  Eddie married into the Sims family, his wifes madden name is Sims, and is business partners with Tonys daughter. It was apparently  Sims who talked Eddie into being a promoter so he could promote Darren Barker.

Below is a direct quote from Billy Nelson who is being very mature and philosophical about Burns leaving him to join Sims:

"It was my idea to have tony there (at Burns last fight) purely as an extra set of eyes, Ricky will be going to Tony to train in London, Tony phoned me like a man and said he'd been asked by Eddie to train him.
I have no issue with this whatsoever and only wish Ricky well, we all move on and get on with it."

I've got a bad back so i'll go and see somebody who's seen a few episodes of Casualty he'll know what he's talking about.

Think my bronze medal for two widths of the bath at butlins aged 8 pretty much trumps that rowley. Back in your hole son, you're mixing with the big boys here.

For somebody who has had so many brilliant jobs and done so well for yourself you have a real bee in your bonnet because Eddie Hearn had help from his dad starting up.

To blow my own trumpet I was a fairly successful rock journalist and while Grindcore is a specialised non generic form i'd wager I know far more about it than the average man on the street.

Eddie is not the real deal in my opinion. One way of proving you have it is to be successful without relying on others. My father is highly successful at what he does and has won numerous awards, appears in the media regularly, and has an honourary doctorate but I never tried to piggy back on his success. The reason is I wanted to do it for myself. I didn't like people saying to me "oh are you going to follow in your fathers footstep". I never used my fathers name to further my opportunities and I never will. I can look back on what I have achieved and say to myself "I made that happen".

Anyone else sniff bullcrap?

I know its rich of me to say something like that - but the ideal that a righ, highly successful master of Law and Sociology/Psychology would be posting on these forums about Eddie Hearn when daddy is a rich media mogul who wins awards is a bit too much for my mind to believe. Thats just me, I'd be far too busy enjoying the money I'd earned or doing my super powered job than to squabble on the internet over someone for hours. Literally all day Strongy.

Unfortunate then that I'm not that lucky to choose I guess.

Strongy you're such a big shot i'm jealous or are you just a liar trying to feel important on a boxing forum I wonder. You're becoming like Coxy you start to lose a debate and suddenly you're an expert because you did this job and then that job working your way up every time, it's just unbelievable codswallop.

I hope Eddie 'poachers' all the fighters. A matchroom monopoly can only be a good thing. I hope too he's as unscrupulous as Strongy suggests because if so he'll make the best fights happen within his stable. A self interested businessman will not be bothered about protecting zeros if he has ALL the fighters. He'll let the best man destroy their competition and profit from both the winner and loser. He has no hesitation in throwing lambs to the wolves, money is the motivator. He gets fighters title shots they'll likely lose but happy to take. No one forces anyone to take a fight. Money is a motivator for promotors, fighters, coaches, venue owners, bookies, medical officers...everyone. Like I say hope he gets everyone, a character such as his would certainly make a frampton-quigg fight, in fact he'd make any fight he can profit from and fortunately for the fans the most profitable fights are most often the best fights, or at least the fights we want to see. Boxing needs sharks to thrive; it needs harsh businessmen willing to exploit boxers as commodities. Long live eddie and his eventual successor.

How many times can you watch DeGale, Froch and Groves fight each other before wonder to yourself if Andre Ward could take all three of them in the one night.

I never said I was a master of law or psychology.  I am educated, I can read and I have been around the planet long enough to suss people out..

My old man doesn't work in the media.

I'm no different to most people on here in that on a slow day at work I come on for a banter.

Just because you're Barney Bullsh!tter it does mean you should judge everyone else by your standards.

I'll watch those fights until a definitive topdog is established, thereafter, the winner can have a pop at ward. Makes sense doesn't it? Find out who's best in your own country at a weight before matching them with The Best, something a future domestic matchroom monopolymight make happen (should bring the lonsdale glory days back too)

I would question the extent to which anyone really achieves success 'without relying on others'. Working life and business activities are inherently social and relationship dependent. I had no real direct input from my parents into my career, but I certainly relied on help (advice, networks, etc) from peers and senior colleagues. In the past when I ran my own business I relied on friends and friends of friends. It's networking, not having to 'rely' on someone else.

It seems to me that this 'doing it on your own' thing is a strong part of your personal identity, and is, at least partially, a foundation for why you dislike Eddie Hearn for not being the 'real deal' and relying on Daddy. Reading over your own comment again, I think you'd have to agree, at least to an extent?

And, actually, reading over my messages on this thread, I'd like to apologise for how harsh some of my comments were. I stand by the content of them 100%, but there wasn't much need for the severity of the tone. A combination of a long working week and the anonymity of the internet combined to make me speak in a way that I probably wouldn't speak to most people in real life. Enjoy the "debate".

Sorry Milky. I sometimes forget the kind of company I am mixing in, back to the shallow end for me.
