surrey vs Gloucestershire lv county championship
Surrey have named a twelve man squad for the LV=County Championship game against Gloucestershire at the Kia Oval starting on Sunday.
Tom Curran, Gary Wilson and Chris Tremlett all return to the squad.
Stuart Meaker and Jade Dernbach have not been selected so they can prepare for the start of the NatWest T20 Blast next week
i wonder if that's the reason Arun Harinath has been left out as well
Vikram Solanki is currently not with the Surrey squad due to family reasons which are of a private nature.

Cheers, JimBob. Like and agree with your own comments.
Surprised as well that Sibley and Curran are available for this match - thought they would be up to their necks in A-levels now!
Hope the Viscount plays - quite a few bowlers in the squad but generally they're very raw. Admittedly Tremlett has the experience but there's always the worry he'll be on the physio's couch before lunch on day one.

Not got a very good feeling about that squad. But hopefully we'll do at least somewhat better than in last match.

I was surprised too. Thought he was showing signs of being the useful all rounder that we have been lacking for long time.jimbobgooner wrote:very harsh to leave out Kapil

100/3
Not really sure what to think of that side. Leaving Kapil out is harsh after a promising first performance but happy to see Linley and Curran in the side.
Tremlett being the 4th bowler used hopefully isn't indicative of his fitness going in to the match though...
Davies not having the gloves is also a worrying sign. Also the resting of Meaker is strange given he's been leading the attack.
Not sure what to think of much of that.

130/5 with Dunn picking up a third and Curran a second.
The youngsters leading the way here. If we could nip Tavare out before they reach the 150 mark we've got to be looking at restricting them to zero batting points.

Gloucs 138 - 7. Since lunch Surrey have taken wickets and reined back the scoring rate. 3 for Dunn, 2 each for Viscount and Curran. Can we finish this innings off?

Only able to occasionally follow on cricinfo today but Dunn's wicket of Gidman just before lunch struck me as being influential and edged us the morning session. 100/3 gave a much better look to us than 100/2.

Gloucs out for 168 with Dunn taking 5 wickets.
But Surrey innings now in disarray at 31 - 3 with Burns, Sibley and Smith all dismissed cheaply and Ansari has also retired hurt.

Thanks, Corporal.
Very strange day. A good performance from the bowlers with 5 4 Clive but that's in danger of being undone by the batsmen. A lot resting on Roy and, assuming he can return, Ansari.

Re: surrey vs Gloucestershire lv county championship
Well played Roy and Tremlett at the end. It's the sort of fighting innings from le Roi that we've been wanting to see much more of for several years.
Alec Stewart very clear in his interview that both sides bowled a lot better than they batted. He said there was not undue lateral movement.

Roy and Tremlett gone already The (apparent) good work of the bowlers yesterday is fast becoming a distant memory! Doesn't look like Ansari is going to be fit enough to bat. Let's hope Clive can continue his not outs, and the Viscount can stick around with him for a while!

From the ground - although cold, it's sunny and now looking like a batting day. The odd good ball from the Surrey bowlers but too often they've failed to trouble Klinger and Dent who are playing comfortably. 55/0 at lunch, leading by 91.
Easily Gloucs' morning with our batsmen falling away swiftly within the first hour. Vital we strike back strongly in the afternoon session if we are to stay in this match ....

Looks like all the lads will have plenty of time to 'prepare' for the T20. We'll be beaten by close of play tomorrow

Re: surrey vs Gloucestershire lv county championship
We are solidly rubbish this year, consistently terrible rather than the up and down performances I expected. At least we have Dunn and Roy as slight positives from this game. I see Tremlett is having another stormer being given just 4 overs in this innings so far to bring his season stats to 2-198 compared to Dunn's 15 wickets so far.

Re: surrey vs Gloucestershire lv county championship
Definitely Surrey's session but I fear Gloucs may be too far ahead. To win, we are going to have score the highest innings total of the match - that's something never easy to achieve in the fourth innings.
That said, the pitch isn't full of demons. Bit green and giving some assistance to good bowling but far from being unplayable.
Very fine bowling from Tremlett who seemed to find an extra half-yard of pace in his devastating fivefer spell which keeps us in the match. Ball of the day though was from Dunn against Fuller - it rose on him and followed him at pace as he tried to sway away, only to give Wilson a catch behind.
Marshall is on 27, valuable knock in the context of a low s.coring game. We need him back in the hutch soon ...

Gloucs continuing to pull further ahead. Bit of temporary hope built up with Carrot's master stroke but these last few wickets have made the 4th innings task a huge one. Another wicket brings score to 218 for 9.
Difficult to see two or three of Surrey's batsmen building a half century in the very poor form most of them are in.

267 to win!
Ansari I assume is out of commission other than in the unlikely event of our getting near the target? Sibley seems hardly able to buy a run at the moment. Wonder whether in retrospect it would have been better to let him concentrate on his A levels instead of playing in these last few matches.

Re: surrey vs Gloucestershire lv county championship
Good point made by Goochie about the number of byes conceded by Surrey. They could be very significant.
I would lay the blame far more on the bowlers than Wilson. Clive was off radar early on and too legside which certainly cost some byes. Late on, I recall Tremlett fired the last ball of an over down the legside so as to keep Marshall away from the strike for the next over - understandable to a point but he was very wayward and gave the keeper no chance as the ball went for 4 byes. The umpires seemed generous to the bowlers in not calling some of these balls wides - they definitely would have been in limited overs cricket.
Wilson isn't as silky smooth as an in form Davies with the gloves but Davies ain't in form!
