Out for the summer. Empty Out for the summer.

Post by Portnoy's Complaint Wed 21 May 2014, 4:08 pm

Not the normal reason because of my mental health (which isn't always good with ongoing, tidally-affected depressions) but my sheer tiredness of the inevitable oppressive, unsavoury nature of professional rugby (Sarries v Toulon  vomit - good teams or not).

The only concessions from now until the start of next season will be to update the IRB rankings sticky and a personal commitment I made via PM to another poster to do an OP on T2 rugby and the glass window.

See you in September.
Good luck.

Port,
You have not been officially released from duty as of this moment in time. There is still the signature event of the rubgy season, the Premiership Final! After that, you may depart for a while and rest your wearly soul. You have had a good season posting, though I think a tad below your informative, reasoned, and contrarian best. Perhaps some rest, a few trips to your local, ignoring the England tour to NZ (which we should all do for our cumulative mental health), and you will be back, tanned, rested, and ready. I, for one, await your return. Enjoy your time...............

Portnoy Complaint I might find myself doing likewise (leaving) for different reasons. I have found myself become disillusioned with rugby.

.

It's a fitting Final. 2 teams who embody everything the modern rugby team should be - especially Toulon - strong, independent, financially impeccable, massively rigid business plans, passionate and exciting.

I can't wait.

PRL are only concerned with AP clubs as that's their role, so they have done a grand job for us. thumbsup

All are inward looking. The Irish like to think they are superior but ultimately they only care about themselves. Same with the AP, RFU, French etc.

It's all about what's best for them. Personally I have come to the realisation that all as bad as each other tbh. Some like to take the moral high ground but I don't think any can.

Own interests come first when it comes to the clubs and unions.

Unlike thePRL who claim they have saved NH rugby - its the hyprocracy that catches in the throat.
If they at least admitted they were only interested in the PRL and stopped this crap about the greater good of the game I would have some respect for them.

BT has saved Regional rugby in Wales, saved Scottish rugby (PRL brought them to the table remember!) and they have secured the future of English clubs for many years to come.

They have saved NH rugby for many rugby fans. thumbsup

This conversation is providing ample evidence for why I took the decision to take some time out.

Franchises, soccerisatiion money, greed and mindless fans.

Best of luck PC...enjoy the summer. Will stick around a bit for the next few weeks but then the GAA Championship starts in Ireland....far more important and still amateur...

Best of luck in your rest

Sorry for the retroaction but I thought I might introduce http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b044r6k9/imagine-summer-2014-2-philip-roth-unleashed-part-1 from about 4 mins in for about 5 mins.

It's on my bucket list to read this summer.

I've got that prog recorded, Portnoy.

I still think Roth's best is Sabbath's Theater. He's a dirty beggar.

Jaysus, when are people going to get over the European Cup row. It's settled for the next 6 years. And I'll probably be dead by then at the rate I drink, smoke and roide.

See you next season port. Check out the GAA for the Summer. I know how much you love all things Irish. And I think Sky picked up some of the games this year so ye can get over there.
