Not disputing the greatness of either man, but are they not just slightly too similar to have them play together?

I had similar problems choosing between Baresi and Beckenbauer but eventually went for Baresi because I saw a lot of him growing up and he was the best onfield organiser and tactician I've ever seen. Alongside that kind of player you tend to need a "marker" and someone who tends to attack the ball (Costacurta used to do it for the Milan team that Baresi played in and Maldini did it in the '94 World Cup when Costacurta got injured).

I went for Cannavarro because he was great in the air (despite his size) but also fast enough to deal with the quickest of strikers. Also, a team with so much attacking talent didn't necessarily need Beckenbauer's ability to bring the ball out from the back.

In the same respect though how do you drop Fat Ronaldo, the leading scorer of all time in World Cup Finals?
