US Open Competition!
It is the second major of the year taking place in Pinehurst, North Carolina. kouchi won The Masters Competition back in April and is looking to add the US Open to his 'grand slam' bid. Shotrock took this last year and is looking for back-to-back wins in the US Open.
The rules remain the same so if you haven't played before all you have to do is select six golfers, before the first tee off on Thursday, then sit back and see how they get on. I will hopefully get a leaderboard up for each round sometime the following morning.
The winner will be the person with the lowest combined score from their three best finishers. That allows upto three of your selections to not make the cut. The competition scores will be the actual scores from the golfers. So if you have Tiger Woods and he scores 280 for his four rounds, you get 280 towards you score.
The full rules are listed at the bottom of this post.
Here is a list of the winners so far and you can see the previous Masters' final leaderboards in the spoilers below:-
US Open 2013
To clarify here are the rules:-
1) Select six golfers before 11.45am on Thursday.
2) Your score will be the cumulative scores from the three best performing golfers of your six selections.
3) As in any golf competition the person with the lowest score wins. Par for this competition would be 840.
4) You must have atleast three of your selections make the cut in order to win.
5) In the event of a tie for first place, your fourth best placed selection will be the decider. If there is still a tie after that the fifth then sixth selections will be considered respectively.
Hope that explains it all and good luck.

There should be a rule that you can't have more than 3 picks in the top 10 of the betting........

Two or three i can understand but to pick 6 from the top 10 or 12 in the betting is a bit dull
I was listening the the radio earlier and they asked some guy who would win the world cup and he said "Brazil, Argentina or Spain, Portugal as a dark horse" - wow! really sticking your neck out! ha

Re: US Open Competition!
Portugal is a bit bold! Pretty mediocre team + CR7.
When has an outsider last won the WC? 1954? 1982?
With that being said I think this years US Open is quite open(!). I guess most of you agree. Ironically it seems the variation of our picks has never been lower than this time...

Re: US Open Competition!
True Pedro but "+CR7" is a pretty strong plus and probably has enough ability to turn a half decent Portugal team into a very dangerous one. If Ronaldo is really on song would you fancy them to be able to turn over Brazil or Argentina if they played them? Yes, i would say it's possible. Not likely, put certainly possible
I'd say Italy winning in 2006 was an oudside chance win. I know Italy are a big football nation generally speaking but at that time, no one saw that coming

Re: US Open Competition!
Ok, I agree with you re. Italy in 2006.
But Portugal really needs to be on fire to win this. They have a pretty tough group, but otherwise an easy draw. So I agree that they could go far (if advancing from the group) but it will then mainly be due to an easy draw.

Re: US Open Competition!
I'd love to see both Messi and Ronaldo at their best. I've always rated Messi as the slightly better player but if one of them has a good tourney and wins the WC it will be hard to argue against them. This is probably Ronaldo's last World Cup in his prime years whereas Messi likely will have one more.
I thought I wasn't fussed too much about the World Cup, have become a bit bored with football of late, but I'm really looking forward to it now

Haven't got the patience to watch a full match. Footballers are such gimps with their petulance, moaning, diving etc.
Might tune in to see England collapsing in the humidity though.

Good to see people following my lead and picking Lowry for a bit of a laugh.
