Dick Vet Ladies Rugby Updates
Hey guys I have been asked, along with another team mate of mine to take over as the coach of the dick vet ladies rugby team from next year, I have done bits and pieces of coaching, mostly scrummaging work, but have never been responsible for an entire team before. I was also informed recently that this is the oldest women's rugby team in Scotland. Our equipment situation is pretty dire, does any one, especially the Scottish users, know of any good sources of financial support to potentially sponsor us? I have priced the equipment I feel would improve our session and it totals around £5-600. We have decided to split the duties between the two coaches, I would be training the forwards in set piece play, pods and then break down work, the other coach will be taking the backs and teaching them to do whatever the hell backs claim to do. Any advice on possible coaching strategies or general stuff would be very much welcomed.

First advice I'd give you is to do a name change on the Dick Vet Ladies Rugby Team ...

SecretFly they're is no need to change the name.....
Is it an established team fella? If not aim to start some team building stuff through the summer like BBQs etc.
We've got a good way of raising money in my club where we do a pub crawl around 10 pubs with a pint in each pub. They're is a £10 entery fee so even if you only get 10 people you've still made £100.

Re: Dick Vet Ladies Rugby Updates
Just a wee update, the coaching has been going well, we had our first match last Saturday, we lost 55-22 but it was over half the teams first ever game of rugby, most of the newbies are American or Canadian so they have t even watched a game before, we did a lot if work on our scrum and lineout with the forwards, unfortunately the other team didn't have a full front row and so the scrums were Uncontested, but we won every single line out, in the second half they didn't even compete on their own put in. Our drift defence and the occasional midfield tackling let us down at times but we have been working hard on those areas this week.
I'll keep you updated on the dick vet ladies progress throughout the season, also if anyone about Edinburgh wants to come along and cheer us on you are more than welcome.

BDV, good work man.
May I direct you to the Your Match thread. I'm sure you could make a real contribution there. When I'm next at my club I'll try to talk to some of the ladies' coaches for inspiration/ advice for you.
