England's last game: who plays?
So who should play?
Personally I would drop all those players who will be retiring or who won't feature at euro 2016 so that means Gerrard, Lampard, Lambert, Baines, Jagielka and Johnson should be dropped for younger players.
I also think Rooney should be dropped and sterling played behind the striker. Yes Rooney will go to euro 2016 but he has layed in 10 years worth of major tournaments and he doesn't need the experience, a younger player could really benefit from playing 70 minutes eg lallana or sterling or sturridge or the OX.
I would like to see wilshire, OX, Shaw, Smalling, Jones and lallana brought into the starting line up.

Sturridge up top with Sterling Barkley and the Ox behind. Henderson and Wilshere behind them. Literally couldnt care less who plays in goal. I'd try play Jones and Shaw in the defence but I wouldnt want to weaken ourselves too much.

I would play all the players you mentioned with Jones replacing jagielka, Shaw replacing Baines and Smalling replacing Johnson. Keep Hart in goal.

Can't see much changing up top, this is still a game we need to take serious & win. Roy needs to end on a high & end this embarrassment & show that this new direction is working.

I'd like to see this side
Hart
Smalling---Cahill----Jones----Shaw
----------Henderson---Wilshere------
Ox----------------Barkley-----------Sterling
------------------Sturridge---------------------
If Ox isn't fit then switch sterling and start Lallana.
As Stuart Pearce has said what's the point in taking the likes of Shaw if they ain't gonna get a chance to play and gain experience, they'd be better off playing the Toulon tournament and gaining experience of tournament footie there

Re: England's last game: who plays?
We took 23 players to the World Cup, 11 have started so logic would dictate that you play the others. That would be:-
Foster/ Forster
Milner, Smalling, Jones, Shaw
Wilshere, Lampard, Barkley
Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lambert, Lallana
Alternatively you look at players in a system. In that case I would go for:-
Forster
Smalling, Jones, Cahill, Shaw
Wilshere, Henderson, Barkley
Sterling, Rooney, Lallana

We're going to play two goalkeepers...and we'll still lose!

If Ox is still not fit from his injury that happend pre-world cup that poses the question of why he wasn't replaced.

I'm gutted for Oxlade not getting his big chance this summer.

Re: England's last game: who plays?
Would imagine its slightly precautionary as well, Arsenal wouldn't be too chuffed if he was risked in a meaningless game, and with our lack of options on standby, and cover already in the squad in Ox's position, made sense to give him an opportunity to try and recoverChampagne_Socialist wrote:Olly wrote:Baines and the ox are not fit according to Henry winter

I'd read that Oxlade had a setback in training recently.

what worries me is that walcott will be 29 before he gets to play a world cup game.
