Summer chaos for Carnegie again
Every year we see important key players move on leaving the team in dire need of new blood and every year we manage to overcome the problems and fight our way back into contention in the play offs. This tear we face the same but lose our head coach as well.
Jimmy Lowes, despite his lack of Union experience, did a great job, evenually producing a team playing attractive, effective rugby. Sadly he's off to Bradford Bulls at very short notice and so leaves us with another challenge. Geech is taking oversight of the pre-season while trying to find a replacement.
It's depressing and I wonder how we can keep on with this cycle and maintain our hopes of a return to the top flight. The Academy keeps on producing a few hugely promising youngsters but they don't stay once they've matured a little and finding the right calibre of players from wherever gets harder as Prem squads improve their depth.
Can't help thinking a minor miracle is required.

I can only think the Bratfud Balls are paying him a huge amount of money and he's in a good position insofar at they are probably doomed anyway so it's worth a go to him.
Shame though as Leeds were playing some good rugby.

I always want Leeds to do well...even though we've taken Barrow and Green from you.
(We have given you Pilgrim and Fitzy for the forthcoming season )
It amazes me the knocks leeds continually bounce back from. I'd love to see you guys get a top long term coach in a get promotion and actually keep hold of 90% of your team.
Shame to see Jacob Rowan leaving for Gloucester.

Yeah, Jake going is a bummer but that's how it goes. Got a couple of good front rowers coming through, just back from JWC duty and just hope Prince Henry's School keep up their good work. They're like a junior academy for us.
Sorry for the moaning post , just really pees me off.
BTW, aren't Irish losing out badly this summer too?

Ozzy, was thinking about transfers out. Probably just innacurate perception.
Re: Summer chaos for Carnegie again
aitchw, we have been losing good players every year for a while now, but this summer the only leaver of note is Marland Yarde. We have significantly strengthened the pack though for next season, so most of us Irish fans are expecting an improved performance off the back of that.

That's good, nothing worse than feeling no progress is being made.
Funny how these notions lodge in your head so it's prob that past trend that's stuck.

Easy to do, as it's been one way traffic out the door in terms of proven quality for us over the past 5 years. With the new board in place and better funding we now have good players coming in, like Tom Court, Geoff Cross, Sean Cox, Dan Leo, Tom Guest and Luke Narraway. Depth wise in the pack we are definitely moving forward.
Was gutted for your Leeds boys in that play off semi final. So much young talent and a desire to play attractive rugby, would have loved to see you come up. Really hope that Geech can get something lasting built up there with you guys.

Well thats two thirds of a very good, fast back row.

Geech has to get some stability into the setup headed by a good head coach. The club can't hope for AP success without it.
That's pretty encouraging recruitment, things def better than I'd realised

Such a shame. I'd really love Leeds to get promoted next year but with Worcester & Bristol looking strong it'll be a tough ask.

Although the depth in the championship is really starting to grow now imo.

It's wasn't a great season just gone but it certainly looks a very tough league this year. I'm glad Falcons didn't have to contest with the sides Wuss & Bristol are putting together.

Shame about the fixtures, them playing each other in the first and last game, the last game could be really pointless.
