Even so, he must look damn skinny as a welter, given the norm (and I speak from bitter personal experience) is to get 'larger' as you age.

Yeah, he always looked a big middleweight. I just can't imagine him making 147. I also thought he retired after the john duddy fight, (it's been years since duddy retired). He was already shot at that point.

Re: Howard Eastman
Well the report on boxrec did say he struggled to get down to the weight unsuprisingly

I think it has to be commended that at 43 he is hungrier than ever.

Re: Howard Eastman
Howard is an enigma of immense proportions. On his day, an absolute marvel to watch but an absolute nightmare when he'd got his funny head on. Sadly he was more the latter than the former
Threw away the Joppy fight and never showed up against Hopkins when there was even chance he might give Bernard something to think about.
McCracken must have thought he'd hit the jackpot with Froch, a man who doesn't possess half the natural ability of Eastman but is prepared to put in the effort. If Howard possessed Froch's dedication, he'd have been a World beater, if Froch possessed Howard's ability he'd have probably beaten Ward.
Immense waste of talent for me, far too laid back for his own good and needed a stronger coach than McCracken to motivate him but in fairness I struggle to think of anyone who could have got the very best out of Eastman
