Oi Hobo!
I know he gets it hard for being an admin, but I want to congratulate Hobo and his mates on v2. I skirted around it for a bit, got a bit more involved recently and actually got used to how it works.
However today I have been lain up in bed all day and can honestly say this forum has kept me sane. It is a gem, unsullied by WUMs but not sterile or artificially polite. As Mrs P said in another place, we can disagree without being disagreeable. The debate is varied and high value. There is a wide range of posters and more of the old 606ers are coming over all the time. The pub is the heart and soul of our virtual village. But most importantly of all, there is continuity from the old place and the place before that (although I never saw the ScrumV boards).
I met a stunning group of individuals on the weekend. I was a latecomer to the 606 pub. I was invited however to a pub meet. I took my three year old daughter to meet people that I only knew by nickname. I was greeted as a long lost friend would be with warmth and sincerity. My daughter was not treated as the inconvienience she might have been. I was able to socialise with like minded individuals, eat decent food and do my bit for charity with a whip round. Now isn't that the spirit of rugby? If this place didn't exist I might have said well why make friendships that will have their roots cut before they blossom? So Hobo you'll have a tough time, but I for one am deeply grateful for your efforts to date.

Re: Oi Hobo!
Very gracious of you guys.
All of the admin and moderator teams are doing our best to do what we can, and its not for our egos (although the praise helps) but also because we like socialising with old friends from 606 as well.
We will all continue to do our best to make it grow and stay true to its roots but also take it to the next level.
Thank you for the praise but also remember that although I have a shiny green badge, its up to all of us to create the debate and watch out for the troublemakers.
So to finish this rambling reply - thank you all that have come over as well.

Re: Oi Hobo!
Seconded.
I didn't make it to Cardiff on Saturday, but have met the same people that Glas talks of in Leinster, Twickenham, Leicester and Reading. T'is indeed the spirit of rugby, and Hobo and his fellow admins have enabled a platform for that spirit to continue to grow.
Well done!

Yeah good job man. After coming over here, I really want this forum to be a success. The old one was rather overrun by WUMs.

Aye Notch and they are being concentrated now. I don't actually like going back there now. This place has taken over for me.

I also like the system of having no star rating. That used to just upset people.

Re: Oi Hobo!
Hobo, you just gave one star to an article that praised you.
What would you do if it was less complimentary?

I almost never got upset about it, it was far too petty. But when sad things like the passing of a sports star were 1 starred I would need to walk away from my keyboard. I just can't understand the mentality of people who do things like that.

Agreed.
Re: Oi Hobo!
I just didn't see the point in that ratings system. It's not like it really served any purpose. A bit like "The Manager's Picks". That was a load of poo because in the two years I was on 606 I never saw a rugby thread get a managers pick, so it's not like it was accurate was it?

Re: Oi Hobo!
I must be petty then because it used to upset me. If I had something on my mind and took longer than the length of the tease paragraph to say it, I would be ignored and given instant one stars by people who could not have read it let alone consider it properly. Then, a WUM would put up a pithy paragraph and get a forest of replies and an equal split of 1 and 5 * people would then decry the level of debate and moan about WUM's!
By the way is the
Man Phill Steele?

Re: Oi Hobo!
The level of debate is superior here to 606 Glas, so any well considered articles you have will be very welcome I am sure.

Re: Oi Hobo!
Its JeanLuc Picard.
The star rating was terrible - If I genuinely didnt like an article, I would award it 2* for the very reason that I knew that there were a load of 1* Wums. By voting 2* I felt my disappointment with the article stood out!
As you say, there was no managers pick - but there is on here! I choose the articles to tweet - so make em good or you'll get 24 hour bans!

Re: Oi Hobo!
Cari - I think in an ideal world the ratings wod have serves a purpose. Allowing us to sort the quality of articles via some kind of democracy.
It "could" have been used to admonish WUM articles, however they rarely ever penned an article!

Oh hell, sorry!
I wasn't trying to say you were petty, I meant that people would do it just to be petty and to try to get a rise out of others.
No offence intended.
