Wimbledon Day 10 (2014) - Ladies Semifinals Day
Ladies' Singles - Semi-finals
Lucie Safarova (CZE) [23] v Petra Kvitova (CZE) [6]
Eugenie Bouchard (CAN) [13] v Simona Halep (ROU) [3]
Happy to see two CZE players in SF, Kvitova is a past W Champion, and may have too much power over Safarova.
Halep, with new found confidence and a good run at RG, faces young Bouchard, who seems poised for a bright future.
Predictions - Kvitova in 2 sets. Bouchard in 2 close sets.

Re: Wimbledon Day 10 (2014) - Ladies Semifinals Day
Thanks LF
I'd rather it was a Halep v Bouchard final but I suppose we can't always get what we want. The first match shouldn't be close but Kvitova wilts on sunny days and it's 25 degrees C today. Safarova has never played on CC before so the occasion may well get to her. If it isn't a Kvitova demolition job, I'll say a horrendous 3 set battle.
The other match... I'm a fully licensed member of the Genie army so it's obvious who I want to win. I'll probably be out for an hour of it but I expect it to be a fairly high quality match with Bouchard dictating the rallies and Halep defending ferociously. Because Genie likes the grass and Halep doesn't I'll go for the Canadian but whether it's 2 or 3 nobody knows.

Ah where would we be without some trivia for the day.
If Bouchard and Raonic were to go on and win their respective titles, Canada would be the 5th country in the Open Era to have both Mens and Ladies champion at the same slam.
Can you name the other 4 countries who have done the same?

Oh so they have. You'd think with Laver and Court they'd have done it. I'll have a think.

Is it UK, LK?
If I am not mistaken, it is around Sir Fred Perry's time. I do not know the Ladies side though.

Not much in the second set for Safarova v Kvitova, just tame surrender.
Come on Genie, it is your time.

She is the wonder women on the tour, thankfully we have a youngster in WTA at the least to excite us.

2 BPs. Bouchard looks tired. Instead of a CC FH, she should try a DTL FH. DF

Two years ago, I think the commie said, Bouchard was junior Wimbledon champ, and now she's in the final of the main ladies event.
That should be a lesson to Laura Robson. She needs to learn from Bouchard's example.

Good for Genie, she's the real deal. Sharapova without the flakiness and with more variety.
She has a twin sister? Identical, one hopes. I have two sons, one of very appropriate age, the other if she's a cradle snatcher. Obvious solution.

Laura's problem (aside from the wrist obvs) is movement/fitness and nerve (double faulting at crunch points).
Genie seems to be taking the route that she is not on the circuit to make friends, which is fine in someways if you are ultra-ambitious, but life still has to be lived (rather than living and breathing tennis).
