Its now or never for Murray!!
Murray is a great player IMO, I live and hope this is the time for him to start ascending....
He has been unlucky to have gone through an amazing era with three potential goats, The era of the Fed, the Nadal and now the Djoker.
This is also a good opportunity to shine and make an impression on the game. He really has to break past all current three top seeds to ever be regarded in the same league and be as good as they have been so far! Now is the time I fear, as the three era's are at a crossroads (i.e. on the up and down)....otherwise its curtains for him.... as the Djoker will become the heir!

i think andys chance if he keeps playing well will be at the US open this year and of course wimbledon, but i think he stands a far better chance of winning his first grand slam at the US this september

Thats what we all think really, deep down, that he'll break his maiden at the USO, but Andy has a bad habit of surprising us, doesn't he ?

I think he has exceeded all our expectations here especially on clay and on one leg!
But never say never - stranger things have happened but there's always Wimbledon just around the corner if all fails.

I'd be gobsmacked if he won at Roland Garros as clay is his weakest surface. I'd say that his best chances of a slam come at the US Open, followed by the Australian Open, followed by Wimbledon then Roland Garros.

Djokovic potential GOAT with just 2 slams? Might as well throw in Hewitt or Safin as GOAT as wellmm15 wrote:Murray is a great player IMO, I live and hope this is the time for him to start ascending....

No there is a big difference Sonic, Djokovic is still playing and winning whereas Hewitt is not and Saffin has retired. Thats why the author intimated that Djokovic has the potential to be a GOAT.

Difficult to see him getting past Nadal on clay but stranger things have happened.
He needs to get his A game for Wimbledon and the US as a certain Del Potro is going to be a factor in both now he's back to full fitness.

Re: Its now or never for Murray!!
Don't see Del Potro being much of a threat on grass, as his movement isn't that good and the low bounce counts against his lack of variety.
USO is a different kettle of fish, but it remains to be seen whether JMDPs USO win was just a good player having a really hot streak of form (like Tsonga reaching the AO finals a few years ago) or whether he really is a top class contender (noting that previously he had never won even an MS event, and that he didn't get much opportunity afterwards to confirm his emergence). Looking at their H2H records, Andy wouldn't be that upset at having to face Del Potro on a hard court - yes it may well be a good match because it is both players favourite surface, but the past performances suggest that Andy should win more often than not.

Re: Its now or never for Murray!!
The bounce nowadays at Wimbledon will suit Del Potro's game whilst his movement for a guy his size ain't too bad.
Agree though that Murray would be favoured over Del Potro there but at the US Open? I'm not so sure as maybe it's only injury that has stopped the Argentine from greater things.
Of course both of them would have to get past a combination of a revitalised Federer (or so it seems), a desperate Nadal (to hang on to the top spot) and a cerain Djokovic (playing the tennis of his life).
If either of them got through that lot to win one of the slams that would be something else.
