breakaway countries do not get automatic EU membership. This has been stated by all and history also suggests this. The only person who denies this is Alex Salmond and the SNP. I'd back the others being right.

Could be tricky for Scottish people working abroad but I assume they could still get citizenship of what remains of the UK if they applied so that wouldn't be a problem in itself.

It would solve the "English" unemployment problem if they couldn't, but the government would lose a lot of revenue on fags and scotch Whistle

Are oz for real?

How about they wait their turn like SA and NZ.

http://i.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/international/10516270/Wallabies-seek-to-crash-NZs-Lions-party

"The Australian Rugby Union is attempting to lure the British and Irish Lions back Down Under for a money-spinning kick-off to their 2017 tour of New Zealand.

ARU chief executive Bill Pulver has revealed bold plans for a one-off Lions blockbuster which would go some of the way to recouping lost revenue from next year's World Cup season".

Yeah, you're probably right SF. Still it's a bit cheeky from them ozzies trying to clip the ticket like that. As long as you Lions fans aren't hungover for the main event then it'll be ok. Last time was a hoot. Guess we wait for the aye vote now eh. Will be interested in this as my Gran from Portsoy will be looking down on it all with keen interest.

So with the vote over and with the answer No - should this thread be locked?

Back to the absent Scot jokes. The Scots have voted that they're okay to be the traditional whipping boys of Lions 'banter'..

Mods, please edit the title of this thread, What happens to the British and Irish Lions if Scotland rises up and drives the British back to Bretagne?

At least then we could get a novel debate on the best of what Wales, England, Ireland and France could offer.
