Didn't see that coming. Sad news, even more so when you consider that his final year or so in boxing was probably a really unpleasant and difficult one for him, what with all the disputes and legal tussling with Ward.

Sad news indeed, as Chris has said his last year in the sport cannot have been particularly pleasant, but in as much as this can be said of any promoter Dan always seemed like one of the straight shooters.

Read a few days ago he was suffering from liver cancer and was in a critical condition. I didn't expect the end to happen so quickly.

Wow came as a big shock. Only just witnessed this on our Facebook page after getting home from work....I never even knew he had cancer...I just knew he was battling (and winning) with ward over contract disputes.

people like Chris and Rowley actually blaming Ward for Goosen's passing. We all know that promoters have history of dealing un just with fighters so there is always 2 sides to every story. You can't just say that Ward is fully responsible for causing Goosmans death that is unfair.
I am sure Ward has his reasons and I am sure that as a proud christian he is very sad and reflective at this moment but he sacrificed his career to attain what he views as justice but according to Chris and Rowley Ward brought this upon Goosman.

Why should I care about some Promoter who got to where he was probably by being an a**hole....
Most promoters are......
Nunn had contract problems with him..............Ward has.....
Millions more people I give a toss about than this guy..

Neither myself or Chris blamed Ward. We said Dan had had a tough last year in the sport. He has, ergo what we said was right. There are times when you're amusing onetwo but others when you're just a moron. Guess which category this falls under.

I don't care much either as I didn't know the guy and there's way too much sad stuff in the world to get misty-eyed everytime something unpleasant happens to a stranger. But there's nothing remotely amusing about cancer and nothing wrong with paying respects if you wish.

You don't have to know someone to mourn their passing do you? I have never met and don't know Martin Scorsese but would be gutted if he was to pass away, as he has enriched my life and given me countless hours of pleasure through his work. Goosen has promoted some good fights and fighters, as a boxing fan I appreciate him doing that.

Not the same thing, Archer has done nothing I feel has enriched my life, he has written books I don't like and been part of governments whose policies I fundamentally disagree with. Bad argument.

They have promoted some good fights, however if I genuinely feel a persons bad outweighs their good I would choose not to comment on a thread marking their passing, as I did when Suleman passed. If only you had adopted a similar policy we'd have avoided this nonsense, which as Steffan says hardly paints us in our best light.
