Smith Bros eye Dirrell and Groves

Hearn has stated that if an immediate rematch with Arthur Abraham cannot be secured, his plan is to get Smith a shot at the WBC title against Anthony Dirrell. Hearn confirmed he had held preliminary discussions with Al Hayomon over the possibility of a fight next year with Dirrells representativies identifying it as a fight that would interest them. This would put Dirrell in a somewhat awkward situation having recently dismissed Smith conqueror George Groves as being unworthy of a title shot on the back of two losses to Froch and a win over a "bum".

And speaking of groves, the now WBC "international" title holder, Joe Gallagher has stated Groves is being targeted by Paul Smiths younger brother Callum as a fight they really want. Gallagher claimed Callum is hot on Groves in the WBC pecking order and the fight would serve as something of a revenge factor with Groves having blasted out older brother Paul in just a couple of rounds.

Groves would be a huge ask for Callum, he's fought no one even approaching his class. Better off having a go at Rocky Fielding.
