what the hell is going on with forward pass interpretations?
have they completely thrown out the direction of hands movement argument?
have just watched a try which would have been given last year, Saints vs Ospreys.
because if the ball actually has to travel at most flat in absolute terms, that effectively will completely change the way the game is played. half of NZ's tries of the last couple of years (which were legal according to the direction of hands argument) would be now given as forward passes. because NZ's backs are moving at such speed that the ball, if thrown flat, is moving forward at the same speed as the player passing the ball.
i specifically heard Romain Poite and the TMO agree that the last pass was forwards when compared to the 5yd line markings. no mention of hands at all.
did i miss this?
are all tries going to be reviewed superimposing straight lines across the pitch? if so, the RWC is going to see 75% of tries disallowed!

Yup. New interpretation this year. Austin Healey likes it, so it must be a bad move.

Yeah it's changed, as forward passes usually get allowed Vs Wales, and at the same time everyone on here suddenly becomes a forward pass expert.

well its easy to tell if its a welsh forward pass. if it resulted in a try then obviously it was a forward pass

Easy to tell if it wasn't a forward pass for the Welsh opposition. They scored a try from a forward pass.

That was not a straight lineout from Saints in the build up to their third try. Pretty ridiculous when you consider Poite has pinged every single Ospreys crooked lineout. There are also some other decisions I've found quite ridiculous throughout the match, Greenwood seems to agree to. Is home advantage really this big an advantage in the big competition? Because we can forget about away wins and upsets in the future!

Ospreys have been played off the park. Irrespective of ref decisions.
If Biggar isn't kicking then Os are basically saying feel free to infringe as much as u like and we won't make u pay.

Yes, I definitely agree with you there.
I think it was worth me pointing that out though, after seeing the Toulon/Scarlets game and reading some complaints about the Munster/Sarries game last night.

Judging by the build up on SKY and BT and the ridiculous biased commentary with shocking interpretation of the break down i think Welsh rugby was never really invited to this party, any one can tell you we have been phased out.

Another absolutely unbelievable decision. No.19 lying all over the ruck then rolls the wrong way to disrupt it and somehow, Northampton end up with the penalty.

But I also got to say, absolute class from North this game! Helped by the efficiency of the Saints team though.

yeah North looks in great nick. a lot better than in SA this summer where i thought he was way off his best.
looks like a well timed return to form for the AIs.

Ospreys get smashed by a superior Northampton and as expected anti English posts spring up.

No doubt that Northampton were superior. Don't think there's much anti-Englishness going on though.

Re: what the hell is going on with forward pass interpretations?
Any team entering a ruck off their feet at any angle, handling the ball in the ruck, srumaging at an angle and obstructing around the ruck will look superior if it all goes unpunised.
Also may i add wrfc1980 before you staring puffing your chest out throwing swathing arrogant comments please remember the team you just watched on TV just won! not you! them!
you are equal to all other fans sitting behind a key board a spectator to the result.
