amazing bit of skill by lopez. he just on the run, chipped the ball (which was on the ground having been dropped) up with his foot into his hands! best piece of wendyball i've seen since Zebo's try.

brilliant score by abendanon. started by jonathan davies in his own 22.
boring rugby by top14 sides!?!?!?! at least they are willing to attack from anywhere on the pitch. which is more than can be said for many sides this weekend.
but then if you're not a top14 side its fine to be boring, then it's called having your tactics spot on

??? Quins...I'm going to tell the doc you aren't taking the pills at the right times
How many times have the lethal Clermont won the HEC?
No - better question. How many times have they looked like winning it - were the bookies favourites to win it - and didn't win it?
The competition - any competition - is about winning it. And yes, that's a tactical gameplan that stetches through many games and isn't designed to make the crowds go OOH! Ah!!!
New Zealand make the crowd go OOH! factor - but they also win things with their OOH factor which make them the draw they are.

talk about double standards. i have lost count of the number of times i have head the boring label applied to t14 teams and the t14 generally. yet who are the last 2 winners and 3 of the last 4 finalists in HC?SecretFly wrote:??? yup. top14 sides.
so as i said. HUGE double standard from people who never even watch the games just rely on urban mythology to justify the slur.

Toulon dont play hurrah rugby and they win things. Hell even Clermont is moving a bit from barbarians style. Today its different, they need the 5 points.

Clermont (TOP14) didn't win against Toulon (TOP14). Toulon won because they weren't Clermont. They stifled Clermont's 'talents' - like many of the winners do... So yeah, there's a place for Toulon and a place for Clermont in the Top 14. But they don't play carbon copy rugby.
Besides, many English based observers would share the view that French rugby is forward dominated - certainly going by my years of experience in this place! - and it's mostly English based fans who don't take a shine to that kind of game (*cough* Munster) - surprisingly so too since they've had their greatest successes with the game and had a big hand in perfecting the methodology of it.
So Double Standards? Yep - they get around. They're well travelled

Twice already Fofana had an overlap on the outside of him and chose to pass to the inside, two lost opportunities

Clermont's decision making on attack is extremely poor

sale scrum half cliff having a bit of a shocker today...missed tackle on abendanon for try...couple of really poor kicks from hand where there was not even a chase.
