Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe
A little questionaire to get thing started and let's see if it goes anywhere from there:
1. Who was the more naturally gifted of the two?
2. Who has the best wins?
3. Who has the better overall resume?
4. Who had the better fighting spirit?
5. How big is the difference in the quality of their respective legacies?
6. Who was your favourite of the two?
7. Which fighter did you prefer to watch?
Thanks for reading, any input appreciated.

7) Lewis - Calzaghe's pitter patter style was boring.

I'd say Lewis for all apart from 1.
You have to remember that Calzaghe was taught by someone with no boxing experience and still dominating euro/fringe world level fighters.

Re: Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe
1) Depends, as 'natural ability' can have different meanings and interpretations from person to person. Calzaghe had his own unique gifts from an athletic / physical stand point but Lewis was the smoother, better-schooled boxer. I'll go with Lewis but wouldn't be surprised if some argued the case for Calzaghe.
2) Lewis. Not a massive difference in their elite wins but Lewis has a hell of a lot more good and notable ones underneath that.
3) Lewis.
4) Calzaghe, not that their was anything wrong with Lewis' spirit, though.
5) Not massive but a clear edge for Lewis.
6) Lewis.

Re: Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe
Am a big Calzaghe fan so will try to be as impartial as possible...
1. Who was the more naturally gifted of the two? Difficult to split athletically, Calzaghe had that incredible engine but Lewis was naturally a beast. Boxing wise I'd say Joe was more naturally talented having that unorthodox style that seemed to come naturally to him.
2. Who has the best wins? Lewis. Although not as wide as some might suggest. Calzaghe's best wins were over a prime Kessler and BHop, which are excellent wins.
3. Who has the better overall resume? Lewis clearly.
4. Who had the better fighting spirit? A draw here. Calzaghe got knocked down numerous times but never looked in danger of being stopped or quitting, tough man. Lewis fought beasts of heavies, so clearly had a warrior spirit.
5. How big is the difference in the quality of their respective legacies? A clear gap for Lewis, but not as huge as some might suggest. The zero will always close the gap in this, despite there being a lot of easy fights on Joe's resume.
6. Who was your favourite of the two? Calzaghe.
7. Which fighter did you prefer to watch? Calzaghe. I realy enjoyed his style, especially when he still had dynamite in his hands.

Pretty much my thoughts on it too.

1. Who was the more naturally gifted of the two? Maybe Calzaghe - close
2. Who has the best wins? - Lewis
3. Who has the better overall resume? - Lewis
4. Who had the better fighting spirit? - Calzaghe
5. How big is the difference in the quality of their respective legacies? - Lewis by a big margin
6. Who was your favourite of the two? - Lewis
7. Which fighter did you prefer to watch? Lewis edges it for me, he could be very boring - although when calzaghe was on song and chose to box instead of brawl with wide slaps, he was great to watch, JC vs Kessler one of my favourite fights

Re: Lennox Lewis or Joe Calzaghe
I'd have Lewis as the more naturally gifted but Joe was able to adapt brilliantly so its no shut out.
Lewis had the better wins but Lewis' Tyson is Calzaghe's Jones.
Lennox has the better resume, Joe stayed home too much.
Calzaghe had a will to win that even makes me think he might have been able to beat a prime Jones... But that's a big might. Unfair on Lewis but you can't show spirit when you're swaying, or laying about in the ring like you've drunken a bottle of it.
Lennox legacy is what it is, Joes could have been so much more given his options.
Lennox was my favourite BUT Joe was a close second.
I preferred to watch Lennox, mainly because every now and then he would put in a performance that was close to perfection and completely destructive, like a precision wrecking ball... If you can have such a thing. Joe could entertain but once his hands went he wasn't known for knocking opponents clean out... which I like to watch because I'm a cave man at heart.
