Friday Night Lights
Has anyone seen this? I've just finished the final season and have to say it's probably my favorite TV show. Was curious if high school football really is that big in Texas and was surprised to see it is, they have websites dedicated to the whole thing over there.
Time to read the book now.

Re: Friday Night Lights
Its a brilliant show, the character development throughout the seasons is superb, and I really got invested into seeing what would happen with the players and coach.
High school football is a religion over there, they play Friday nights for their high schools, go on to play on Saturdays for their colleges and some of them will make it into the NFL. Texas is probably in the top 2 or 3 states for producing NFL players as a result

I've watched it a few times over now, absolutely fantastic show. Agree with above, you get invested not just what they do in the games but also the off the pitch stuff as well. Matt Saracen was always my favourite character in it.
Up there with The West Wing as my favourite TV show.

I agree with your favourite character Mat, was made up with how the Mat and Julie storyline finished, especially when he had to ask the coach. Riggins was a close second for me.

Yeah, thought they tied most of the storylines up pretty well to be honest which is rarity, but in particular they got the Mat and Julie story spot-on.
Riggins was great, I'd like to be him in real-life!

Re: Friday Night Lights
Have you seen the film or read the book? I've heard the book takes a deeper look at the racism aspect of Texas football.

Re: Friday Night Lights
I've seen the film, it's quite good actually.
Never read the book, it's always something I've meant to get round to reading but just haven't done yet. A friend of mine at Uni has read it though and said it was fantastic, and he said it did look far more at the racism aspect than the TV or Film ever did.
