The dirrell fight was a weird one. It felt like the better fighter lost, but dirrell got on his bike and paid the penalty. It's always split opinion.
Funny you say that, Mexicans have charisma, whereas Carl Froch has no personality at all.

That aside Dirrell won the fight 115/113. Close but clear winner. Had the fight been anywhere else Dirrell would've got the rightful decision.

They might not speak a word of English but they've got great charisma apparently..
I was under the impression that half of the USA couldn't speak a word of English either...

Yis...

Juan Carlito "trenchio el cobra" Frochito - going to name my first son that in homage to his royal warrior excellency and my love of Mexican fighters.

And Truss, they're not all bad - some of the latina girls in America are ridonkulous.

I have been behind Degale from day 1 and was right to say he was robbed first time around. Its a shame you can't stick to your guns.

I think given there were so many close rounds saying it was a Robbery is a bit too far, that being said I think the Degale hating crowd influenced the judges with the close rounds. When I scored the fight I thought Degale won about 4 rounds clearly where Groves won about 2 rounds clearly the rest were very close all though Degale was more the aggressor but kept getting countered... Personally I had Degale up 2 rounds and thought Groves was very fortunate to get the win. I think Degale wins a rematch on points, possibly a late stoppage.

Dipper Brown wrote:The only fighter ever robbed against Carl Froch was George Groves. Robbed of the opportunity to weather the storm in the 9th round in the first fight.

I can't feel too sorry for him though, he got a 6 figure pay day and sold out a stadium in the rematch, which was only his second ever title fight. Didn't do too badly for himself out of that injustice.

Best thing that happend to Groves, earned him a load of cash and loads of publicity. He was spent and Froch was walking him down, when has Froch ever finished a fight having gassed? he does not as he preserve his energy well throughout a fight and does not move a lot. The fight was stopped a couple clean punches too early after about a 30 second spell of taking punches run in back and holding... Yes it was a bit early for such a big fight but the chances are it would have been over with no rematch. The rest made his call. We got the rematch what changes done Groves the world of good and Froch was more cautious made Groves work more for success and Got the KO around the same time Groves faltered in the first fight.

Don't get me wrong Groves is a good fighter and I would say world level, and also very exciting.

You need to change the record Tunes, you were woefully wrong straight after the fight and your opinion of it is still wrong, Groves should not have been stopped in a month of Sundays.

Was groves faltering in the rematch? I actually thought he was upping the pace then got smoked by a peach of a shot out of the blue.

No the record is playing fine, I said it then and I say it now, and the rematch asserted the result, one round sooner and only one punch needed the second time.
Groves was in big trouble, his punches no longer startling Froch and Froch has never gasses at the end of a fight, do the math. Big deal the reff stopped the fight 2 punches early... The main reason people were peed is because it looked like Groves would coast the fight, he did not.

Refs make calls and when they do that's the rules, the reff thought Groves had enough. In this instance we had a rematch to answer to you chaps. Well what happened? The conclusion was around the same point of the fight Groves was stopped. Let me guess, you need a 3rd fight to prove your point?

No he fought well. But not as well as in the first half of the first fight. He was starting to let his hands go more and catching Froch. But I would regard leaving your self open to the punch Froch got him with was a falter, it was a good punch but Groves defence was not exactly great.... one round before the first rnd stoppage... lets imagine it did not KO him but just buzzed him and had him hurt.... familiar position?

Again Tunes your opinion is still wrong, the rematch does in no way validate the awful decision of the ref in the first fight, it requires no maths just common sense.

Tunes is just about the least objective poster you could ever hope to comment on this though.

Someone even posted slow-mo footage to explain how he was full of horse sh!t after the first fight and he still couldn't accept it.

No poster has a great hard on for JdG and Forch than Mr Tunes. It's almost comical.

The reason GG might not have won the first fight, had it continued, is that he was clearly being lined up for a scorecard screwjob. Which is why one thing Tunes has said is correct - the appalling stoppage was the best thing that happened to GG. If he hadn't been stopped so shockingly he would've lost on the scorecards and never got the massive money-spinning rematch.

Whilst I'm nowhere near as biased on this as Tunes...........I would have been very surprised If Groves had lasted the round...

Poor stoppage...........But the way Groves was desperately throwing punches in that round with no thought of defence against a quality puncher...........I think the end was nigh...Brave showing though it was !!
