ITV have big time boxing
First topic message reminder :
Carl Framptons first title defence will be shown live on ITV, great to have another terrestrial channel getting involved.

Because who else would there be to fight? Anyone else bar Rigondeaux and it would feel like a damp squib.
Would back Framps against anyone in the division, Rigo excepted, and even then he would have a shot.
Agree with this
Rigo is becoming ancient for a small fighter.......
I really wouldn't rule out a Frampton win If he can force a pace........
People tend to forget that Wlad, Manny, May, Rigo, Cotto and the rest of the golden oldies can get old "Overnight"..
Wouldn't rule Framps out, indeed, but Rigo is a 'agening' fighter that has taken very little punishment due to 3 factors: 1) Majority of his career has been as an amateur with headguards & pillow gloves; 2) he's only had a handfull of pro fights; and 3) he's almost untouchable - arguably the best defensive fighter on the planet.
Smaller fighters tend to have a higher work rate....... speed and reflexes tend to be more of a requirement..
I agree with your post but lack of punishment aside........Tank and reflexes tend to diminish as one gets older...........It will diminish regardless of activity in tough contests..
Certainly had to change the volume of my training in my mid thirties...........

Great move by McGuigan - everyone will be talking about Frampton when he fights (as opposed to just boxing heads when Quigg and Rigo fight).
So chuffed as I can't get over to this one (impending bambino number two). What with Golovkin on 5 I can cancel BoxNation!

I thought the long-term plan was for Warren to establish it and then flog on to BT Sport? I nearly fell off my chair the other day when I flicked BT on and they has WSB.

Which means If someone raises the pace he could have a problem................A bit like Barry himself did against Pedroza..

8-10oz gloves with ruined padding; because they've been used over and over by many others before you even get to wear them.
HaHa, OK pillow gloves.

Only works if you find someone good enough to successfully to do that!
Donaire was p4p#3 and unable to direct/force the fight.

So you keep saying (mainly when trying to excuse someone you like for simply not being good enough).

Quigg's loss if he marginalises himself defending that title on subscription TV while Frampton is on ITV performing to a bigger audience. Boxing on one of the free channels can only be a good thing.
Also, I really hope Box Nation shifts to BT Sport!

They can, but it doesn't stop it being a phrase to tend to trawl out when making excuses.

Floyd came to Pac's hotel after the basketball game to continue discussions.
Apparently a deal has been done that HBO and Showtime will both air the fight as PPV. There is to be no All Access or 24/7 but each network will show a one hour special on their fighter.

Could you imagine the Pacquiao nuthuggers going off one on if it was Manny who walked across the court, instigated exchanging numbers, went to Floyd's hotel room etc?!
For someone who's apparently so keen to duck Pacquiao he seems rather keen to meet up with the guy at any opportunity.
For the love of god Christmas will come early if they announce this during Superbowl (when I'll be asleep). Partially due to it finally being made and all this off/on/off/on/blame blame blame nonsense we've been subjected to. If they do sign I may go over to ja606 and taunt D4 that it's on and he needs to end it all before Manny gets embarrassed.

1. Floyd and his massive ego/entourage, you mean? Hardly a chivalrous act.
2. And this hotel room meet is just hearsay.

Could be covering up for Manny having a load of hookers in his room?

Seeing is believing.
Won't consider this fight 'on' until they touch gloves in the ring.

Maybe after they touch gloves, Floyd will go over his ankle and fake an injury.

Imagine Floyd fought Hoppo.
Probably be about 5 punches thrown the entire 12 rounds. Most likely all from floyd

Read this morning that McGuigan basically browbeat the ITV head bods into showing the fight. ITV have suggested that, if all goes well, they'll be open to showing more big fights going forward.
